Tail height vs. suspension travel

Hi Folks,

I'm currently designing a new seat/tail bump. Should I be designing it for worst case scenario i.e. Make sure the tire won't hit the underside of the tail when suspension is fully compressed? The CB550 stock shock absorbers have 2.5" travel. I can put taller bump stops on the shocks but I don't want to lose too much suspension travel. What have some of the more experienced and/or pro builders on the forum done?

good aftermarket shocks will have more travel, you wont be running stock shocks
thay are crap
a properly set up suspension will hit the bumpers on those really huge oh shit ! bumps potholes whatever at hi speed
so get your new shocks, remove the springs go to full bump with the bumpers partly compressed and leave an inch clearance
oh and be sure and have a new tire whatever you will be running mounted as well
you cannot just measure the shock travel, wheel travel is more than shock travel
