Tail Light dim, bright on throttle (cb400f)

timeconsuming

Foolish until proven intelligent.
Hey guys

So recently I've noticed my tail light (LED aftermarket setup) has been acting wacky lately on my 75 cb400f. Basically the running lights are super dim when I first turn the ignition and get the bike idling. Sometimes almost completely out, as if my battery was low (when in fact it's nearly fully charged). But when I rev the engine it brightens a lot... then fades back to dim on throttle release.

Now, the headlight is consistent in that when the ignition is on, it's on, and doesn't change brightness when revving.

Today the fuse burnt out and the running lights went completely off. However the brake light still functioned when the brakes switches were pushed/pulled. Replaced the fuse and it was back to dim running lights (better than none at all!), then brightening on throttle, fading back down on release.

Now, at this point, it is odd to me to notice that when I go for a somewhat decent length ride, say 15 minutes on the freeway at an average 5-7k rpm, when I come to a stop and take a look at the tail light it is bright as hell, to the point where I can barely see the difference between the running lights and the brake lights.

Not sure what is causing this in the wiring or where to start problem solving. Any tips or similar experiences would be appreciated!
