Ive had no issues w mine. Raising it may effect steering??? Why do you want to raise it?
Would you please turn that damned chain around. Whenever I see a pic of your bike...the master is like a magnet to my eyes. Its all I can see, and the harder I try not to look the more it stands out...LOL
Would the DCC 13.2" be a better choice? I think 12.5 is stock.
This is my cruiser bike, my next bike I build will be a "race" bike. I know these DCC shocks are chinese garbage, along with most of the other parts on the site.
I want taller shocks for looks, and new shiney shocks for looks as well.
trek97, what do you mean you've had no issues? Do you have DCC shocks, pics? size?
ok, In order to maintain the stock height mine are 13.25s.
I really think you need to reconsider adding any height to the rear. If you ever have to emergency stop. I am afraid you would be more prone to go down. Besides affecting the steering during everyday riding.
I dont know any of this for sure. But, it sure seems that way. Hopefully an expert will jump in.
One last thing I need to decide is retro slim vs regular. The retro slim is a few more bucks but might clear my exhaust better. Are the regular DCC shocks wider than stock cb/cl shocks?
The DCC shocks are designed with their spring rate for larger cb750s. They are VERY stiff for a 360. Gives the bike rear end "chatter" rather than damping. 13.25 is right on the money for what you need. Over 14" is asking for chain vs. swingarm clearance issues with a properly tensioned chain (1" slop" at rest). I am warning you though, those suckers are super rigid for what you need. If you don't mind your ride being stiffer than shit go for it, but it's a no go for me there. Eric, your effects aren't AS dramatic because your swinger is extended IIRC.
I think I said the DCCs are stiffer early in this thread. I keep mine on the softest setting.
The answer is ....AVONS....nothing else. The wifes plan for the Firestones is a $200 tire swing/flower planter.
Just to be clear....AVONS. Avons are a couple bucks cheaper than Firestones.
And to summarize my point......AVONS.
Really you won't like the firestones. They were fine for me. no rain....I live in Illinois....No curves or corners. Just straight lines and very corner has a stop sign. If you enjoy turning.....its AVONS.
Here is the difference between going straight and cornering.
