Been Around the Block
On my build, while i'm waiting for new piston rings, I decided to start cleaning the rust out of my tank. However, when its done, I plan of sealing it. Which seal is the best?

Whichever one the local real radiator repair shop uses. Worth every penny to have them boil out, acid dip, solder any pinholes and bake in a real liner. I've had tanks literally rot away to wafer like chunks of oxide, and the liner was still intact.

If you just have to do the job yourself, be it finances or wanting the experience, Kreem is a farce. The other 2 you list are fine, Red Kote used to be for pure gasoline only unless you bought the race fuel approved liner. The newer version is not only alcohol fuel blends safe, it is still the only liner flexible enough to work properly in fiberglass tanks.

That said, POR15 is fine as well, for metal tanks only.

RED KOTE just saved the DT 400 tank that POR 15 did not seal. for me so thats how I feel about that

None of the above. I use Caswell.

Doesn't the filler neck on most bikes recess into the tank 1/4"-3/8" making it difficult to remove all of the access? If you lay the tank to cure upside down so nothing gets in the petcock holes doesn't that access sealer build up around the inside of the fill neck?

I covered the petcock opening like this.

I put Vaseline on the screw threads and the rubber, so the epoxy wouldn't stick to it.

I sealed the top with a rubber bung from the hardware store.

Cut the kit in half before before you put it in the tank. Keep it rolling until it sets up. Or.... just set it down and let it get an inch thick on the bottom.

Radiator shop, and probably for the same monies as you'll spend on that caswell kit and you'll have a warranty.. Done....

I always use redkote. that stuff works wonders. haven't tried the others, cuz redkotes always done the trick.
