TEC shocks too hard?

I picked up these shocks off 4int1.com for my 400f( http://4into1.com/aluminum-adjustable-remote-reservoir-shocks-honda-cb350-cb400f-cb450-cb500-cb550-cb750/)
But I can't for the life of me get them to depress very much. I let out the air in the reservoirs thinking that might soften it, still nothing. I weigh a whopping 140lbs, am I too light for these?
I put one on at a time and depressed them to work air out of the oil. Even just having one on it's still hard to depress.

you cant "let the air out", they will need servicing now,oil drained and refilled and re-charged :'(
they are chinese "universal" junk and are sprung and damped that stiff so they can sell them for even a 600lb bike
you need to buy something more suited to your weight and specific weight of the bike

Well crap. :( Did I really screw them up that badly? The site states "Typically 15 - 20 psi is standard pressure for the rear shocks, depending on your weight and riding style. It's best to use a hand pump to prevent from adding too much air."

the fox, ohlins and works performance shocks use a MINIMUM of 180lbs of nitrogen and up to 250lbs
just the fact that they say you can "adjust" anything with the air pressure shows they don't know what they are talking about the pressure is there to keep the oil from cavitating and or sucking in air or gas past the bladder or seal
15-20lbs isn't enough pressure for this purpose and even at that adjusting it has pretty much zero effect on the action

I definitely learned my lesson. Guess I'll call Hagon like I should have in the first place. Everybody says you get what you pay for in suspension and now I can testify to that. These shocks felt like crap right out of the box. Thanks xb!

the low end hagons are still economy shocks they are really only slightly updated girlings from the 60's(they likely have something besides rope for a seal ;D)
if you really want good shocks you need to spend the money on shocks that are service-able
ikon koni fox works ohlins

Find my website in my signature and shoot me an email. I can probably help you out some.

To be fair, those TEC shocks are way better technology than the low end Hagon. The problem here is that you bought a set with the wrong springs. The TEC shocks are setup for Honda's, but where you bought from didn't elaborate on what spring. As far as I know, even the softest TEC spring is probably too stiff your bike and you as a fairly light person. I believe the soft TEC spring is 120lbs/inch, wheres as you probably need something closer to 90 or 100lbs/inch. Like I said. Visit my site. Plenty of info there.

YEP i agree the basic principle is much better
you have put a lot of time and effort into re-doing these shocks and i think the best thing would be for him to have you set them up better ;)

Yeah check out savors site. I sent him my tec shocks and he worked them over to check quality. Our assessment was that then are a decent middle of the road shock

4into1 emailed me and said the manufacturer was sending them the softer springs and that they're gonna send them to me at no cost! So once I get them I'll send them and the shocks to savor to be rebuilt.
