Been Around the Block
I began a thread over in introductions several months ago about this build, and thought I should start an official Build Thread as I have finally gotten off my arse and got some paint work completed and ready for the actual build over the next month or so.
Here is a Before Pic - It was in "running" order, if you did not care for it to idle.

More to come soon...

Thanks for the Kind words - I just wish I had MORE time to devote to my many projects, the cafe will be my top priority until I get her road worthy - then I believe it will be an evolving project.

I down here in Arlington.

I dig it how did you polish the controls so good? 2000 grit sandpaper can't get in all the tight areas! also what did you use to paint the frame? it looks great!

The color on the Frame is a House of Kolor Designer Pearl
PBC31 Sunset - here is a color sample from HOK Website. - with several coats of clear to finish!

I used a rotary tool with an abrasive tip to get into the tight areas on the controls, but otherwise just wetsanded until my fingers bled. started with 320 grit and worked up to 1200 grit - then used white and red rouge on my grinder/made polisher. Once you start polishing, it is hard to stop.

Any tips out there on how I can get some color down into the controls "ON, OFF" areas?

66Replica - Sounds Great - I definitely will come hang once I get her on the road!

Here is my progress from the weekend.

Getting the frame ready to install the motor!!! Without the foam, I would have destroyed the paint!!!

Mocked up with Tank (Still to be painted, it is primed and ready), seat and rear fender - now the REAL fun begins!

Let me know your thoughts - I am going to photoshop the paint ideas, the current plan for the tank is gulf racing blue as the base coat, and a darker blue with white pinstripes around "fake" knee dents

I've had good luck dropping paint and then squeegee the extra out.

Yeah, use an epoxy paint or screen ink and squeegee it off, polish to finish. Make sure all that buffing compound is out of there though.

Thanks, I am also very pleased with how the frame turned out.
I spent a lot of time polishing the handle bar Controls...only to drop the Right one and break the Red Kill Switch :(
Oh well, on the plus side, I now get to ditch ALL of the wires for both controls :)
I plan on not running turn sigs, and now will wire up a toggle switch for the headlight.
I started going through the wiring last night getting rid of as much as possible - what a mess.
My Brother in Law (who is also my painter and is teaching me in the process) put this idea together in Photoshop, I think I am in Love!!!

On a build note - anyone with pics available, can you show me how your battery is "hung" in the stock location?

For the time being, I am planning on running without a tail bump (I have to fabricate one, and want to get all the kinks worked out and get this bike on the road!)

The problem is the bike did not come with a battery box, and I cannot remember how the PO had it installed, also - it is a very tight area and I cannot figure where the best place for the battery.
