Texting while riding

... the Darwin Award goes to...

"It is hard to imagine that people actually text while riding a motorcycle, though a quick Google search shows that the phenomenon is not as rare as you think. That being said, an Australian motorcyclist was caught doing this very thing by a bus passenger in Sydney; and for bonus points, the rider was still on his learner’s permit.
Ultimately, the 21-year-old rider turned himself into the police after the photo taken by the bus passenger went on the internet. Hopefully someone gave him a stern talking to about his lack of gloves, ankle-cover shoes, or general lack of any proper motorcycle gear beyond a helmet. Pssh, Ducati riders."

No bullshit, a couple years ago I passed a couple on a big HD bagger. Both the rider and passenger were texting (or at least using their cell phones in some way), while doing 65mpph on the highway. I was amazed and honestly, pissed off.

???Really??? He can afford a Ducati but can't spring for Bluetooth?

Thats funny. The first thing i noticed to was the loafers. I woulden't be caught dead wearing them on or off the bike. Unlike that guy who might be caught dead.

I took this around 1982, years before cell phones with camera's.
I was really 'into' photography at the time, plus, it was a one time only deal (you don't roll over100,000 miles every day ;) )

Wow. Much respect. That took some stones.

According to a local magazine (Australian Motorcycle News, Vol. 61 No. 24 p. 12) the rider in the lead photograph was snapped doing about 80km/h on Sydney's M2 Motorway.

Reportedly the 21-year-old learner has since handed himself into police as a result of the notoriety ensuing from the publicity!

Crazy

I'd say "par for the course" over here, but the guy has a helmet on and doesn't have 3-4 other adults plus a few babies on his bike with him. So all in all, he's ahead of the Darwin curve.

It's filming on bike shots from Goose's bike in the original Mad Max movie.
