That Little Dolphin's Got Fire In Its Belly! (CM400)

Thanks Bacon. I'm planning to upholster the entire thing, but the top will be more or less flat. I'm hoping to do the tuck and roll style with lines across the seat all the way back and sort of a rounded top in profile to give it a Bratstyle look. Will keep you updated.

A couple of quick updates:

1) I suck at painting. Will have photographic evidence tomorrow. Can live with what I have but have learned that paint might be something to pay for.

2) The new color and improved condition of the bike calls for a new name. The Dolphin name was always sort of a joke anyway. I'm thinking of going with Thunder Toad, but not sure.

3) I'm meeting with my shoe maker friend tomorrow to talk about upholstery. Today though I decided that I didn't like my glass seat pan, still too high. If I'm going to build a custom pan and have it upholstered I might as well do it right. So...

I cut the seat mounts off the frame, dropped the rear fender, and cut the interior fender. I also cut my new glass seatpan in half and will use the front half of it to form the buck for the new pan. Ran out of time tonight so don't have any more photos. Hope to have a new pan built in time for meeting the shoe maker tomorrow.

4) I'll probably open a new thread in the bobber section soon since this bike is clearly not heading toward cafeland. I'll wait until I get some good photos for the first post in the thread

That is all

No turning back now. I love it!

get anything done over the weekend?

also, i'm again staring at your glasswork and a thought occurs. are you just gonna toss out the back half of your glass pan? i (or someone else i guess) might be able to use it as a removable cowl, ala the video i posted. if you didn't cut it up and don't have need for it, i'd give you a some dollas for it.

Hey BaconPocket - thanks for checking in1 If you want the back half of the first pan, I'll send it to you for shipping. Not sure if it'll fit over a stock seat or not. Later in the week I can take a look at how it fits on my daily rider (also a CM400). I'd love to see it put to use.

I made a little bit of progress this weekend. Check it out in my new thread, appropriately posted to the Bobber/Brat section:

I'll be making all my updates there from now on.

Just curious if you had any tips to polishing the master cylinder. Its pretty hard to get in all those nooks.
