After more than a year after my CB350 gave up, I'm nearing completion. Here's the facelift:

Hey Dr...
What kind of handlebars are those? Do you have a better pic?
Also, where did you get the rear brake light / license plate mount?

Mine is coming along and I'm noticing two things: 1) dropped bars suck without rearsets, but my exhaust is too big for rearsets, so I'm gonna go with some bars that are a little more comfortable, and 2) a Lucas-style tail-light is hard to come by...

Thanks,

Oh, one more question -- did you use the stock seat pan? I'm finalizing arrangements this week to have my seat re-done.
Thanks!

Nice to see it up again... so you gonna ride it up to DQ's tonight?

nice , i love those mufflers, thinking about getting a pair for my 360t
They're LOOOUUUUUDDDDD!!!!!!
Like, really loud. And the even have a sticker on them that says they don't conform to EPA noise standards.

Oh, and they're really loud. ;D

Great looking bike Dr. J. Clean and Low, and the stock (or stock-looking) paint on the tank is excellent.

And Phil - Gotta love those pipes, loud as they may be (as if that could somehow be a bad thing).

Those are very rare Tommaselli adjustables from the 70s wiith the gold clamps. I'm sure they are specific to old Hondas since they have the inside routing holes and are 33 mm in diameter. I had my triple clamp machined so they can sit on top. They are the nicest clip ons I've ever seen. I'm thinking of moving the bars below, they look a bit high with the low seat. I got the brake light off ebay. It's a Japanese made Betor, an aftermarket from the early 70s. You can get similar ones from any catalogue but they're usually chrome plated. Yes, if you drop the bars the stock footpeg position is uncomfortable. I bought my rearsets from a fabricator but I needed to tweak it. The seat is another ebay score. The pan is from a CB125 and the guy did an excellent job with the foam and upholstery. The 125 pan is narrower than the 350 but fit's really well along the top frame rails. But I needed to relocate the hinge mounts and lock plunger since I still wanted the seat to open like stock. Had to shave off the rear helmet hook. Other mods: starter removed, 11" shocks, front forks lowered, CL350 front fender, bobbed rear fender, aftermarket finned covers, K&N filters, Hooker 2-1 exhaust, chrome swingarm, header wrap, rebuilt engine, 120R/110F tires, fabbed speedo mount, later speedo in kph and no tach, H4 bulb headlight and some other stuff that isn't noticeable. The tank is original paint from a 73 but the bike is a 72. I bought the bike in pieces 5 years ago and rebuilt it from the ground up.

That bike is soooooo cool, i think it would be called a "scratcher" over here, a bike for round the country english lanes, tastefully done but still keeping the original lines, and lght weight. looks fun

Phil, What kind of mufflers are those? Did you have to play with Jets after putting them on?

Funny you ask -- I was shopping around on the 'Bay and found a set I liked -- here was the picture in the auction:

Anyway, I recognized the sign in the background about paying with cash (and the bald-headed owner), and realized the seller was Milwaukee Cycle, which is the salvage shop I might as well have a credit account with because I'm there twice a week. So I went over there and grabbed them right off the wall. The mufflers have a track on the backside so you have about 8 inches of play to mount them however you need. They were $110 + $23 shipping, and I walked in and talked them down to $100 for the set, so I saved $33 and got them the same day.

I don't know where you live, but if you want I can try to pick you up a set this weekend when I go to pay my motorcycle tax ;-)

Oh, and surprisingly, even with the new pod air filters and new mufflers, the bike didn't need jetting and idled on the first kick.

Thanks for all the good info; I was hoping you'd say that was the stock seatpan re-upholstered, though. Anybody else around here re-cover a stock seat pan?

Phil, I sent you a pm about your old pipes and if you dont want to sell them Ill take a set of those!

Aaron -- I sent you a PM. Here's what the bastardized 450 mufflers looked like on my 350 4 months ago:

cl350.jpg

The reason I got rid of them is because if you use the stock mounts on the 350, the mufflers are a little longer, like 2 inches, so the dip in the backsides of the mufflers doesn't line up with the shock. Here's a pic of the dip in the back of the shock.
CIMG1674.jpg

This is a "before" pic -- I didn't really notice that they didn't line up with the shock until AFTER I blasted these to bare metal, painted them with high-temp ceramic paint, polished the chrome heat shields, and replaced all the hardware with stainless steel...
