The KZ750 twin Super Vintage Racebike

I love the look of the bike so far. My first cycle was a Honda CX500 deluxe. The tank looks better on yours than it did the factory bike.

I'm wondering if that new tail isn't a bit large/oversized. The straight sides don't seem to blend with the bike either. I didn't mind the KZ tail other than it seemed a little long.

Man, that swingarm is the cat's tits! Have you shown this over at KZRider? Those guys will have a shitfit if they see a H*nda tank on a KZ! :D

Thanks! I love that swingarm, and I know its heavier than it should be, but I don't really care. It was fun to make as well. I don't think I've shown this incarnation of the bike over on KZRider yet. I probably will though.
Yeah, I thought about that, they probably would shit over that tank!

Thanks for the compliment!
I know what you mean about the tail seeming to be a little large, but to my eye it really is in proportion to the tank, and I'm going for the look of the old Kawi race tail, which I always lusted over. I'm super stoked on it.
The sides aren't 100% straight up and down either, they are canted in a little bit to match the tank. The corners are also rounded over, instead of being 90* angles.
That tank just caught my eye the first time I ever saw one. They have a beautiful shape. What a shame that the CX has the tank running downhill, and it just looks odd.
Thanks again!
Matt

DOM= drawn over mandrel,,the tube is concentric dimensionally. Interesting choice(I owned one back in the 80's) there is one raced here in Canada,it set a lap record in it's class about 5 yrs ago, beating a ducati!!....custom one off pistons, custom ground cams, highly modified valve train(fast by gast), CR smooth bores, hand built exhaust,,,all this in a stock frame, with the exception of race shocks, and shimmed front springs,, good luck on your build

Is it the orange one? With the dual megaphone exhaust? If so, that guy is putting out around 90hp!

The only reason that it is this particular model is that I picked it up off of Craigslist for $40.
BUT, I will say that after I rode it for thie first time I was VERY impressed with the available torque. I figured if it was 100lbs lighter it could be a great track bike. Should be interesting!

I was told that one of the cams can be relocated to another tower,,,,,do your research!! stock these motors make good torque(360 crank with counter balancer) weak point in the motor are the con rod bearings(the orange bike suffered that one) some other kawi's models are prone to the same problem(don't over rev them)Chuck the single carb and hunt down vm mikunis...36mm should easily work(sled carbs will do) and a good free FLOWING exhaust,,,get er on da track!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, I've already researched it and purchased another exhaust cam for the intake. I just need to use some different shims to make up the difference. VM's are on the list. I had some 38's but decided to switch to 36's. The single carb was just for kicks to see if I could do it.
I've removed the starter clutch and plugged the oil hole on the crank to increase oil pressure to all bearings.
The exhaust will be a 2 into 1.

i really like the GPZ seat you had on there. low profile, really looked nice.... i see you hacked off the exhaust from that scrambler style... what are your plans for that?

I gotta say, I'm with Brew on this...the gpz seat was the shite!
Can't wait to see where this project goes.

Hey look....it's Wee everyone!

Plus 2 I really like what you have done to this bike and would love to see your progress keep it up and post some progress.
