The little Ducati Featherweight

I have to do a massive update, but in short, 12v conversion is in. In the process i snapped part of the clutch basket off. Holding my breath til i find a replacement.

Was able to locate one new clutch basket, won't have it for about a week. I had the other one welded, but i dont know if i trust it. I also picked up new plates and springs, the old ones had enough. Heres some shots of the new 12v upgrade. 150w is a lot better than 28 ;D

Ignition in. I have to figure out how to time it now.

Saw this cut away motor at the garage brewed show and right about this build. Pretty neat.

Kitchen tables were designed to rebuild engines on.
As a child we shared supper for a while next to a V8 my father was rebuilding :)

I rebuilt a vespa engine on a large piece of hardboard on the loungeroom floor thinking this will protect the carpet......it protected the piece of carpet under the board, rest of it was covered in oil, oops

next time I spread a big thick curtain over the whole floor, got oily handprints all over the wall that time

moral of the story - don't rent your house to me

Good little read there. First thing I found showing more hp for the 160 vs the 125 @16hp, which makes more sense. Also based on my case number I know where I am in the production run now. This has got me thinking with the carb, exhaust, compression bump, and tuned right, I still may hit 20hp. With a full port job and higher compression it must really rip!

Motor ignition is timed and valves adjusted. I never had to use a degree wheel before, the ignition wanted to be set at 39° BTDC, wasn't all that hard. Everything that can be done till my new clutch basket gets here is done. I will spend a little time cleaning up the frame where I chopped it in the mean time.

Left to do:
Cut spacers for motor mounts
make taillights
mount headlight
make clutch cable
build wire harness
make intake manifold
finish exhaust
make rear brake brackets and stay
ride?

Mini update- I took the roller apart, welded up where I chopped the rear off the frame, clean up other areas, and that along with a few other components will go to powdercoat monday. It's either going blue or a metallic chrome color. It hit me that by the time the clutch basket gets here, I can have all this back together and refinished, possibly even having the bike done by next weekend, so away we go.

Have you checked out prismatic powders.com ? My powder coat guy told me to go there and chose the powders I want and my mind is now officially blown. Some of the high gloss metallics are stunning and noo outrageous in terms of cost.

Like this blue https://www.prismaticpowders.com/colors/PMS-6925/ILLUSION-ROYAL/

or maybe a translucent blue over chrome basecoat. like this : https://www.prismaticpowders.com/colors/PPB-4474/INTENSE-BLUE/

I've gone on there a few times, yes it's insane how much they have to offer! I'll play on there for a little, but my powder guy usually has a lot stocked and I tend to just pick one. He has a blue that's almost the same as what I have on the frame now, which lays over the super chrome, actually very similar to what you just put up. I will probably do a blue, just because I tend to like color on my frames.

Revised punch list

Left to do:
Cut spacers for motor mounts 1/2 done
headlight bracket
make clutch cable
Throttle cable
build wire harness
make intake manifold
finish exhaust
reverse rear tire

As is my luck, I got all the parts to the powder coater, and the clutch basket showed up. Bolted right up and the gear seems to have the same lash as the other one, so I'm going for it. The plates are soaking as we speak, should have the motor buttoned up tonight. Additionally the powder coater is backed up, no parts til fridayish. He discounted me since I gave him a plug in the article on my last bike, so at least that's cool.

Motor is done, well minus the intake manifold I have to make.

Awesome blue CX! I ended up with a blue almost exactly the same as the blue that i had. Long story behind that color for me. I'm eager to run it as well. I figure this little guy (I love little bikes for some reason) is homework for a 250 or 350 in my near future. It's really awesome how all the singles are so very similar.

Being I don't have a car ar the moment, and sold all my running bikes, i'm trying to get this done asap.

So the happened. Gimme opinions on the exhaust. I like it but im open to other options before more than tape is holding it there
