The Meltdown 2016 Raffle Bike '71 BSA

Rearsets almost done. They started a set from Loaded Gun. But we ditcheded the knurled pegs to use the stock folding passenger pegs to clear the kicker. Then we had to ditch the shift lever and make a loop up and over the kicker. But the lever did work well on the brake side, after we added a return stop.

I'd rather use a cut down fender w/ Y brackets.
Thoughts?

Personally neither, id make a conventional full brace and mount the fender over it as normal. of the 2 choices given the stock setup looks better

Not sure what you mean by conventional full brace. 60's- 70" s British bikes don't suffer from spindlely forks like their Japanese counterparts. So fork braces are not typically necessary on road going bikes.

I suppose I could bend a brace to loop across the fork legs. But, to then have the fender over that, would have the fender sitting really high. Which is what I dislike about the stock fender.
Do you have a picture of the set up you like better?

I didnt say anything about strength it just looks goofy to have the braces above the fender but thats just my opinion

I see. Just a matter of taste then. That's cool too.

For me , having grown up around British bikes, the Y brackets are a classic look. Mostly associated with Manx Nortons, Triton etc.

For instance, here are the brackets on my Triton. But maybe it works better with all the other polished alloy.

Thinking about paint. Red and silver flake. A take on this old paint scheme.

Rolled it outside and ran it up the street.
New carbs and shocks should be here next week.
