One of the Harley bikes parked at our camp ground. Yes that is oil....no I did not exaggerate this.

On the way home now. Awesome rides guys. Had a freakin blast. We hit the dragon 2 more times this morning before heading out. Chicken strips are officially gone.

Can't wait for barbers.

Man I wish I could have been there. The U2 show was good but riding would have been more fun. Hope Troy gets the wing going ok. Mine is still down as all the points screws are stripped. I changed out the points to a tune of 68.00 and then as I was putting them on every screw that came out was either stripped head or stripped threads!

Apparently it takes 64 fl ounces of gas to get to the next gas station.

The dragon is a blast! Takes a lot of concentration but it's fun.

Made it home safe and sound at about 8:15 tonight. Just got caught up on the thread (I've got a dumb phone). I'll post some photos later. It was cool meeting everyone and I had a great time.

Made it home (with the room key in my bag) all safe. 1430 miles on the bike this trip. It was a blast! Thanks to everyone who showed, you are all awesome...even Jewbacca and his square tires.

Made it home safe and just got the call from Doug that he is home safe now too. We got caught in some pretty heavy rain showers a couple times. Also had lots of head and cross winds to make things interesting. Had a to do a couple road side repairs that included a broken throttle cable on Doug's bike and was close to having my carbs off a few different times. Think i'm dealing with worn out -o- rings causing a pretty good vacuum leak. Anyhow, I have no idea how Doug's ass is after riding on that piece of plywood but I can hardly walk, lol. Of course I've probably log less than 100 miles all year and thought I could somehow manage over 1500 in less than a week. It probably didnt help that doug, Jim and me pulled an all nighter the day before we left and not to mention staying up most of sat night wrenching.
I'll tell yeah though I had an incredible time and I'd do it again in a heart beat.

It was awesome getting to see some old friends and meeting new ones. I just wish there was more time because I have no idea where the time went. Was fun wrenching with everyone (Huge thank you to all those involved!!) but it did steal campfire time and I apologize to those I didn't get to spend time with. Hopefully there will be more time for socializing at barbers for those that can make it. I just gotta remember one night is not enough!
Thanks again to Doug for draggin my ass down there. I loved trying to keep up with that wicked machine you built. Was a joy, pleasure and honor to ride with you sir.

The only bummer was being split into two different camps. The website failed to let us know that the hostel was a mile down the road from the camp site. As much as I loved the hostel, maybe we should get a plan together to take over the entire camp site next year to keep the group together. That way we may be able to get someone drunk enough to show their skills on that lovely "brass" pole they provided us.

Agreed. That was a pretty lame setup they had. I was under the impression that the hostel (HOST-ell) was at the camp ground. I don't get it. We actually talked to Jody and his wife about that, and they said that the can and would reserve the grounds for a group. They apparently sold the hostel last year? Dunno, but I wish we were all in the same spot. Feel like I barely saw some of you kids.

I didn’t take nearly enough pictures. I joked with Flug on the way home that all of my photos were of him and me at gas stations. Here’s the best of what I’ve got and the short story of my breakdown.

Espresso Love in “bagger café” mode at the Blue Ridge Parkway overlook where Flug and I met:

A few of us outside of the mex restaurant in Robbinsville, NC during our group ride Saturday:

Leaving the restaurant Saturday I snapped my clutch cable at the lever. Luckily Kanticoy, CycleFreak and Patrick (forum name unknown) were still there with me as the others all roared off down the road. We put our heads together and came up with a great field fix. While CycleFreak went to the grocery store to get a cheap pair of vice-grips (thanks again), we adjusted the cable to get as much slack as possible. We fed the cable through the lever, clamped the vice-grips to the end, and loosely ty-wrapped the vice-grips to the forks. Good to go. And yes, I rode the Dragon like that.

When we got back to the campground, we did a permanent repair to the clutch cable. Kanticoy had some solder, but no torch, so we borrowed a portable gas grill from a nice drunk lady with a riding cooler (or was that cooter ;) ). We pulled the propane bottle and regulator from the grill and used a spark plug wrench to make a torch. Epic McGyver stuff! (sorry no pix)

Wet Flug enjoying a gourmet lunch while sitting out the rest of a thunderstorm on the way home:

And last but definitely not least a nice pit stop behind a waterfall on the way home:

Again, it was a great trip and I’m honored to have been able to spend some quality time (but not enough) with y’all.

I had a great goddamned time and am all about doing it again, say in October. There are still roads in that area we haven't hit and I'm all about that camp and host-el. Sorry for the non-stop bottle rockets...but once I get on a roll....it's not over 'til I go to bed.

Don't think I didn't notice someone cleaned up my mess in the morning...thanks, whoever you are.
