The one that got away

I was seriously planning on buying this, but was third in line to see it. The first person to see it bought it. $600.

We drug it out of some shed that was falling down in the Michigan UP along with 3 other bikes.

We were on our way around Lake Superior on Honda 305's. Some guy flagged us down at McDonalds and said he might have some stuff that we might be interested in. I got the S65 and S90 for $50. We filled up our chase trailer but luckily we never needed the space for one of the bikes we were riding.

The guy who picked it up must have been grinning from ear-to-ear with that price!

Looks to be in really good condition from the pic, was it as good in person Tintin?

I never got to see it, but have heard from the buyer on the SOHC4 forum. Apparantly the tank and chain cover had been repainted, and not perfectly, but aside from that it seems to be as described and as good as the pictures suggest.

Would have been a fun toy, but my wife has a 'limited speed' license meaning she can't ride anything bigger than 49cc's and her Vino has no gears, where the Honda is a 4 speed. Don't think I'd have gotten her on it anyhow, and I already have 2 bikes. Might have put it in my living room though, especially considering it hasn't run in 20 years.

I'd have liked to have had it for the next 30 years in the same condition. Maybe my grandkids could have put it back on the road ;)

Yeah - makes me wish even more I'd contacted the guy when I first saw the ad - might have had a chance at it! Will be interesting to see how far the auction goes.
