The Volkswagen Thread

This is my cousins 86' Cabriolet. The picture is relatively old, it is when we first put it in. It is a 1.8l 16v with bike carbs.

low priced and caddy? lol everyones realizing their rarity and pricing them up. a guy here had one with rotten towers and holes in the doors and gate and still wanted 2k

It's incredible how many VW fiends there are roaming the cafe boards.

I previously had a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T as a daily driver and more recently picked up a 1986 Audi Coupe GT that had been heavily worked over, but needed attention. Fixed a ton of things and it runs much more smoothly than before. Still chasing a fueling issue that I believe may be related to a stuck injector, but I'll know for sure once I get them sent off for inspection and cleaning.

Audi Coupe GT, 3B swap, fixedish

I rescued a 1982 Scirocco forever ago, but it never ran right and the chassis was in horrid shape. I later picked up a clean 87' roller and refreshed all the goodies. Still working on this one, but it has been a SLOW project. At the moment, I need to finish cleaning and resealing the transmission then the drivetrain can be dropped back in and I can work on wiring. I'd love to go with individual carbs, but due to money I'll likely keep it Jetronic for the time being.

I'm working on a Carrera inspired 'Scirocco' script that will run down the rocker panels in the same blue as the wheels.

Interior at present, still need a driver-side Recaro. :( Finishing up wiring before the dash goes back in.

The poor old 82' that had been beaten and whore'd out more than any 80's watercooled ever deserves.

Great cars guys. I have always loved the mkII's here's a shot of a rally car I pieced together a few years back. Unfortantly the wife didn't think this was a good daily driver.

Lovin the Roccos!!! 87 16v was my first car! Had a few GLIs since then, now rock a 00 TDI. I have a pristine rocco2 shell in black awaiting a 1.6td swap. Havent collected all the motor parts yet...
My high school whip first day I got her!

how do you like the new R?
VW is starting to ask me if i want one....
I think ill miss the VR6

it all depends. i came from a GTI so i recon the new exhaust on the R sounds awesome.
i always loved the R32s but after driving them compared to a modded GTI they seemed to be all talk and not enough action.

with a chip the K04 means 310hp is easy on a conservative tune. driving it feels f-ing quick when on boost.. nothing can smoke me! the 2.0 motor also makes the front feel a lot lighter. the haldex gen 3 system is also very good.

this how mine sounds with the stock exhaust and flapper valve open..VW Golf R - standard exhaust sound check with 310hp tune

im guessing you are talking about the bike's wheels, but they are enkei rims off a early 80's suzuki.

Im a sucker for mag wheels.

might want to think about a front fender of a brace. its important for the handling.

I haven't noticed a difference with out it but I'm thinking putting it back on because the litttle wet patches in the road suck after the rain is partially dried up.

I think its really cool that a community like this is also into VW's. To me, the older VW's are much like the bikes we are messing with. They're somewhat easy to maintain, the mods can be limitless, and you can really express yourself with the work you put in, whether it be restoring, or all out choppage.
And this alternator brackets is the tits. I helped my old roommate with restoring his mk2. Hes got a shaved bay and is dying for Carbs right now. Love it.

Ill play, MKI's are my first passion
