The wife's turn to surprise me.

Been Around the Block
Ok folks. Some time ago I posted that I surprised my wife with a Rebel 250 as a gift after she passed her motorcycle endorsement. So, fast forward to this past weekend. I had picked up a 1978 CB400TII in running condition for cheap to have something to ride with her during the summer. Well, as we all know, old bikes need a lot of love and this CB has been resisting running reliably so much so that I spend most of my time working on it and little time riding it. So I was in the garage wrenching on it after it failed to start and in my frustration I told her that I wish I saved up more money and bought a newer bike that I could just ride. She incidentally was going to local bike dealership to exchange her chaps for some riding pants and left after my rant. After a good hour and a half she came back. When she approached me I told her that I was daydreaming that she bought me a bike. She laughed and said "what if I did"? I said, "right, well, that would be nice in theory but we didn't budget for one". She said "what if I told you the salesman's name and that you have a Honda Shadow with your name on it?" Well, she wasn't lying. I just picked it up tonight..here she is. A 2006 Shadow Aero fully accessorized! This baby has been so well maintained that I swear you cannot find a speck of dirt or brake dust on it.

Hahaha! Congrats man. If that's actually you sitting on it, the bike is too big for you........ :D

excellent bikes... I know a bunch about them; my father has a '99 ace. only major differences are the single carb and drive shaft on yours. youll love that bike... take the snorkel out of the intake, hack it open, and put in a K&N. rejet it, and itll wake the motor up big time.

Thanks guys. No, my wife has two brothers but I'll ask if they are available! LOL Bonus question, how many motorcycles can you find in the pictures? ;-)

Good catch Justin! The only one you can't see is the CB175 frame, so there in essence are seven motorcycles in my garage. I thought when you got married the number of bikes decreases not increases!

What's funnier is that she suggested we ride over together on her Rebel, which we did. I never thought we'd make it up the hills on the way to the dealership without having to get off and push!

VERY NICE SIR! Those Shadows are the only production cruisers that appeal to me. I like the color! Never seen one in that flavor.

You are one lucky guy :)

Shadows are cool bikes, lots you can play around with too
Really digging those pipes, were those stock?

Thanks HK. The pipes are aftermarket Cobra. The sound is awesome! The PO had accessorized the bike to the max already..probably about $2k worth of bits. I'm planning on adding a sissy bar and crash bar but that's about it.

Blake, yeah, I didn't follow the Shadow Aero line for a long time until this past year, so I hadn't seen the two tone scheme for 2006 until now. I love the Shadows as my first bike was an '86 1100VT Shadow.

My mom has one and she loves it.

On a side note, My B day is coming up. Im not the kind of person to ask for anything I cant get myself. I told her I spend enough of my money for the crap I buy, she need not waste hers on mine, but the she was insisting I make her a list... So I told her a nice dinner made by her (I do most of the cooking) thoe it wasent out of the question, she wants to buy me something... It looks like I might get a Norinco 1911 this summer!

Norinco, one of the few advantages to living up here in Canada.

Rat, I think my balls just sucked up inside my pelvis when I read your comment about your mom having one. LOL! I know the 750's are considered middleweight or entry level cruisers but I have never been a big fan of the huge displacement bikes (1100 would be big enough for me). Good luck with the 1911!

Reelin', I'll have to ask her how it felt with me riding on the back. I didn't move around much knowing how that sucks when I carry a passenger. With her on the back though it was clear the displacement wasn't going to get us anywhere quickly!
