The Xt400 side car (winter project)

Worked on it a little yesterday. My boy cant wait to go for a ride! I worked on the step to get into the sidecar, and started mounting the caliper. I also added some bracing to my shock tower.

I think I'm just as excited as him to see this in action all GoPro'd and whatnot....My Hats off to You Good Sir...Have you found a Fender for the Tire yet?

Now that's an ispiration to those of us that take 3 years or more to put a project together !

Knobbly tyre for the chair ?

Hey BC,
I'm guessing you used to get projects done a lot faster 30+ yrs ago?
I know I did ;)

Thanks! I will post vids as soon as the weather clears. I am at a loss for a fender. All the trailer fenders I can find seem too big. And ural fenders are way too expensive! I'm not to keen on the whole motocross fender on a hack look. Any thoughts?

BC- thanks I feel like it is taking forever. With a wife, a 3 year old and a 5 month old a job and being a senior in college I'm not moving at the pace I would like to be. Lol :)

Look for a CB350 or similar rear or 2 front's welded together to make one 180 degree
Maybe even slice front down the middle and use that with a 'flat top/front, keep fingers out of shock linkage (follow line of brace)
You'll probably want something with good coverage to keep the 'passenger' slightly cleaner ;)

That's a good idea....I will have to see if I have some old fenders laying around. I never thought of that,, thanks. The shock linkage shouldn't be a big issue....it doesn't move. The arm and cantilever are only there for ride height adjustment. So once it is adjusted everything is stationary. I would like the fender to come down the side of the wheel a little to keep things cleaner like you mentioned.

Yup the chair will get either a knobby or a trials tire. I'm thinking about switching to a knobby on the bike too so now would be a good time to switch. I would get this thing done a lit faster if I would stay of off youtube! I see something cool on there and It gives me too many ideas. 2 hour of watching people shoot stuff with mini cannons and I have my very own miniature cannon that fire a .177 cal projectile using FFFF black powder and a short fuse. Wow what a waste of time hahaha. Oh well at least it goes BOOM!!!

I know I did ;)

Apart from the curse of lack of funds [ 'ish ], my main problem these days is that so many people let me down on doing little jobs I no longer have the facilities for [ and maybe - not the skill ].

When I DID have the money and skilled workforce / facilities - my time was taken up with designing and building prototype cars. Now in retirement I have a reverse situation - time but not the other essentials !

Also, I find that with failing [ reading distance ] eyesight - all the fiddly jobs take forever - comparitively. Even when I remember my reading glasses [ ! ], I'm either too close or too far away for focus and comfortable working distance.

Although maybe simpler in the grand scheme of things - a Tribsa was put together in a weekend if you had all the parts, and that included paint !

They'll all get done .......................................

I couldn't have one. I would chase the g/f's cats with it and have to fix the holes I put in the walls. bad ass though

Yeah I know it seems pretty stupid......but it is stupid fun.. My son and I are always thinking...."what can we shoot" Tonight we shot a gingerbread house, a bottle of coke and an old digital watch.......I'll admit, it was pretty awesome! haha ;D

I guess I better get back to work on the bike.....someone gave me the great idea of mounting the cannon on the sidecar. I was also thinking about making one that fires .50 muzzle loader sabots, but I would definitely kill myself...lol
