Thinner tail pan?

Scruffy

West Tennessee
I know I can buy this tail off the rack, but does anybody know offhand a source for a thinner version? I know I could cut this one down or lay up a custom version, but, if there is a thinner off the rack variant...

Love this bike, is currently my desktop background. I'm building a dark green and cream 248cc version, with lighting, for primarily back road use... No matter how you slice it and dice it, a CL 250/305 is too small for modern traffic, and too heavy to be competitive.

CA, CB and CL 72 (248cc) and 77 (305cc) are all right side drive. As far as others, no idea. All 6 variants are hell to find parts for, not all that many left. My green CL72 has been a stock commuter bike, a track bike, a cafe type and a fire road "beat the crap out of it who cares it's just an old Jap bike" in its day. Maybe 13K miles on and it needs the engine redone, again.

May have bitten off more than I care to chew with it, kinda like chicken gizzards, the more you chew, the bigger the wad of nasty gets.

I am having a hard time under standing your term thinner. do you mean narrower from side to side ? our up and down . I can make you a steel pan any way you want it but the trick is conveying to me what you want . Yes bike in the sixties were narrower lots skinny tires do you want something from the era ? I have a narrow 60s fiber glass seat

That looks a lot like the split in half piece I threw away in 2007. Along with the stock seat, too far gone to even try to bring it back to life, the tin worms apparently like Honda seats.

Thinner top to bottom, covering the rails. Only an inch or two tall, the seat pan I scrounged for it (off an exercise machine of all places) is a perfect fit, as in, hugs the rail tops like it was made for the bike. I may just weld an extension onto that base, integral pan and fender, just need to add 4 frame tabs to secure it that way.

Or I'll get a wild hair again and build a weld on rigid tail section. Which is what I normally end up doing, prefer the ride that way.
