Thanks I was just trying to confirm that I wasn't loosing my mind! I contacted the seller and the issue is being corrected. I posted that seat up for sale in classifieds. It was fairly pricey, but it's an amazing looking seat, just for a 1970 and I need 1971.
I'm certain 68-69 was the rear hinge/front latch, 70-71 had the side hinge/side latch and 72-73 had the key operated plunger. The photo is most likely a 68-69.
After tons of research I think this is correct, Let me know if it needs to be corrected:
68-69 CB350K0 was released on 2/29/68 and was made up to the K1 release REAR HINGE SEAT
69 CB350K1 was released on 05/01/69 and was made up to the K2 release also REAR HINGE SEAT
1970 CB350K2 was release on 02/10/70 and was made up to the K3 release also REAR HINGE SEAT
71 CB350K3 was release on 02/08/71 and was made up to the K4 release NEW SIDE HINGE SEAT
72-73 CB350K4 was released on 02/01/72 SIDE HINGE but now the latch uses a key.
My (what I thought to be 1971) has a plunger that goes into a locking mechanism, when you turn the key the seat comes up because it has a big spring in the middle section under the seat. So now I'm thinking my 71 might really be a 72. Hmmm.....
So it matches up with your chart. I'm pretty sure my bike is registered as a 1971, but that might be wrong lol. My ignition key is also the one that opens the seat, so it has to be a K4 meaning it's not possible to be a 1971.
Get your serial number and compare it to this site to be certain which K-model you have. Without any doubt, this is a certain answer: http://www.honda350k.com/CB350.html
I'm sure it's because it's registered in Vermont and they will basically take a napkin with crayon on it for registration purposes lol. Someone probably said it was a 1971 years ago.
