Throttle assembly

Doc.

Been Around the Block
Hey fellas, another question. So I did some research and found out that the CB350 throttle cables would work perfect for a CB450 with clip ons, being 4-5 inches shorter. So I'm going to order a CB350 cable from Motion Pro. But now I can't figure out what is a good throttle assembly to go with it. According to a sales rep at Motion Pro, their throttle assemblies are not direct OE replacement and their cable won't work with any of the assembly? What's a good assembly I could use with the Motion Pro cable?

Btw the pic below is what I asked him about whether it would fit, and he said no. I'm looking for something similar.

He's right. The tip of the cable is different. It's more of a ball shape the the typical cylindrical shape. Their assemblies work fine.

Are you speaking of the OE replacement cable they sell? The picture shows cylinder type. And if it's made to be going in the stock assembly, it should be a cylinder shape, correct?

Also they list this tube as the replacement tube, and it is listed as Honda on the title.

Also some description from the listing:

-Drum Brake Honda CR replacement (pre-84)
-Motion Pro cables available for most models

oops, My bad. I was thinking about the cable they sell for Mikunis. Sorry for the confusion.

Haha no problem!

Does anybody happen to know the stock carb size? They list in the description of the throttles for what size carb they are.

Almost any universal, single pull, aftermarket throttle will work with a stock cable. The one in your pic is a dirtbike throttle, so it will work, but requires a longer cable (or shorter cable sheath).

You can use the stock 450 throttle, or something like these:

Ah ok, I see what you're talking about. The housing is much longer.
But those are so ugly :p. A little expensive too. Do the push-pull ones work on these bikes?

Will this work?

Probably. It's a push pull so you need to find out what thread size it's designed to take (that's the thread on the adjuster that screws into the housing I'm talking about). BTW, there are a number of different sizes of cable ends. What does your new cable look like?

It says single/ push pull, so I'm not sure. I'm going to be purchasing a OEM CB350 cable from Motion Pro, so I'm guessing it'll be the stock thread size?
