throttle cable-grip confusion

just bought this throttle and i'm wondering how to install the cables. This cable-grip is different from my stock one.

Here is what the cable-grip looks like.

You need to fish the cable(s) through the holes in the chrome cover and then thread the ends into that cover. The inner cable part would then connect like you have it in the picture. Then put the two halves together and that should be it.
 
It's a push/pull set up, how can the cables be parallel. don't they have to be going in "opposite directions." Here is what it looks like now. I might just replace these cables because this setup is just giving me problems. I have no way to screw the u-bend covers into the throttle housing... the left cable is too long and isn't doing anything but pushing the cable when i push the throttle forward

One will have to wrap around and insert from the other side. That way when you twist, one will be pushed and one will be pulled.

So, in your first picture, one will be exiting the throttle how you have it (to the right), and the other will be in the other hole running to the left to its exit.
 
im going to tap the housing tomorrow and attempt to wrap the cable. I might replace the pull cable its frayed a little bit where it sits in the housing. Ill post again If i have any trouble.
 
That doesn't look like a push/pull set-up. It looks like a twin cable pull set-up (for individual twin carbs like Mikuni VM's).

You said it earlier that the other cable "doesn't do anything but gets longer when I open the throttle". That's a push/pull assembly.
 
Stock KZ has a push pull and that throttle housing with the damaged cable stuck in it is for two VM or TM type carbs as people have already mentioned. It is the wrong type of housing for that bike.

Check the crabs. Between then there should be a circular thing on the main shaft that takes two cables. One pulls it round to open and the other cable pulls it back closed.

That throttle housing pulls both carbs at the same time through two pull cables.
