Throttle Return on CX500

Alright so just picked up a CX500, been into dirt bikes my whole life and figured it's time to build a bike for the road.

I was going to start with putting some clubmans on it, all went well until I tried to turn the throttle tube after the swap. The pull was not only harder but it didn't return at all, basically just sticking there. I have bars laying around everywhere and figured I'd try some less extreme than the clubs, but no luck. It seriously seems like there is and exact angle height and position the throttle has to be to work.

I tried messing with the cables to see if they were kinked or anything but no luck. So, i'm back to cruiser bars just to be able to ride.

So what's the issue? I can get new cables, but they will just be the same length right? What is the trick to this?

Nope. Check your routing and lube the cable, it's just wire in a sheath - if it's not sticking anywhere, it'll turn freely. Is it possible that you messed something up at the carb? If there's no return pull at all, you may have done so.

It's good now though with the higher bars. It will snap back no problem. I know the carb spring is working also. Could it be that the cables have sort of molded themselves to the stock position and don't like going any other way?
