Tintin's first ever ride on a bike made this century!

Today was the Ducati test ride at GP Bikes - got three bikes out with a couple of friends from work. You can guess which one I grabbed ;) We went out for about an hour this morning.

This is the first time I've ridden a bike less than 30 years old. Needless to say I was stunned by the power, braking, handling etc. With one finger I had more braking power at my disposal than I can muster on the '75 BMW using my grip of death. At one stop early in the ride I locked the front wheel up for a thankfully very brief moment.

Tons and tons of fun ;D Worth every penny of the $14,000 it costs.

Those sport classic's are killer bikes.
I was def. thinking about getting one, but I had my heart set on a Monster. The plan is to wait a few years and pickup a used sport classic, as well as keep the Monster for total Ducati fun ! ;D

It was scary how much power there was on tap - cruising at 70MPH, a twist of the throttle is like jumping off a cliff. Scary fast these things.

And the tranmission is incredible - super smooth fast shifting, incredible braking... man oh man it makes me want a new bike :)

Man I'm jealous - You can't even get a Ducati in NL... Much less test ride one!

Would have loved to have gone out on a test ride on one of those things, but was afraid I'd hurt myself or the bike. yikes!

Listen, there wasn't a moment during the ride I wasn't thinking 'HOLY CRAP!'. I've always contended that I'd hurt myself badly on a modern sport bike, and this confirmed it.

Bottom line is it's like driving the fastest Ferarri on the street today, or probably moreso in terms of acceleration etc. WAY more bike than I can handle. In a blink of an eye you're doing 140 down a street marked for 40KPH. Not a good thing even if you can stop on a dime.

Nope - not for me, at least not for now. I wouldn't be embarrased at all to say give me a 500cc version of the same bike thank you very much.

You should take my Blackbird for a spin. It eats Ducatis for breakfast ;D

And THAT is how I flipped a brand new Buell ass over nose on the Gear Up! course 5 years ago

Serious braking on these modern bikes... even a Buell single!

lol, glad you had fun with a modern classic . . . but tame in comparison to the monsters or sportbikes.... you woulda crapped your pants on the 1098 tri colore.... ;D sa'll relative i guess. but ride a v-twin for a while and when you get on any 4 banger, old or even new, and it's like motorcycle depression imho... v-twins are the shiznits!

Well, while I don't own a v-twin, I do own a parallel twin (XS650) and a boxer (R75/6) so average them out and I guess I have a v-twin.
