tire size question

im about to order some tire for my 69 cb350 and am a little confused on some of the numbers in the tire code.

i think i want 100/90 for the front and the options list 100/90 and then an additional number like 56h,57h
what does the 56h stand for?

That's the load and speed rating. The number refers to the load the tyre can carry. The letter is the speed rating. I wouldn't worry about the speed rating as I believe "S" is around 180km/h.

For a 350 you really want no larger than a 90/90-18 front tire. 100/90-18 or if you must a 110/90-18 rear.

I have a 73 cl350, I put new tires on her this past summer. I wanted to keep some vintage look about her, as I did the whole cafe thing so I went with Dunlop Gold Series. The sizes I chose : front 3.25 & rear 4.00. I really like the look of the Gold Series,the sizes were not to big and she handles great! I hope this helps.

Just take a look at your rim and see how wide it is. The Tire manufacturer will be happy to tell you what size tire of their's can be fit on that rim. Most of them list the information on their websites.

and here's the ubiquitous chart showing what tires will fit on your rims once you've figured out what your rim size is...

and i think i'm right in saying these are the WM to inch conversions:
WM1=1.60"
WM2=1.85"
WM3=2.15"
WM4=2.50"
WM5=3.00"
