Okay my shifter is just bare metal with a nub on the end like there used to be rubber on it. it hurts my foot unless im wearing my thick work boots.... any suggestions on how i can fix this with crap around the house?

What about a piece of washer hose.....or you could go to Auto-zone they have this self adhering rubber that is tits..

Okay so here's how Ifixed it. Got an old leather glove and cut out the index finger leaving 2 trailers and the ring and little finger. Then i slipped them over one another on the shaft putting the index finger on the outside, and used the trailers to tie it on. Here have some pictures, custom leather shifter pad!

I don't know what bike you're talking about or I'd show a link, but an OEM shift arm rubber is about $4.

= laughing my ass off so hard my sombrero fell off and I dropped my taco.........

Yup... Insurance that it won't fall off while riding. Everything on a bike should be hard to remove. Haha.

"Self-amalagmating tape" or "self-adhering tape" is what it's usually sold as. I use that stuff for LOTS of things on bicycles and am finding lots of applications (besides the intended electrical insulation purpose) on motorcycles.

I tried it as a substitute shift rubber, though, and it lasted till I got around the block.
