Too Many Wires!!

I need to eliminate the Rat King (google that) that is my headlight and wiring harness.
I have removed the horn blinkers speedo and tach and i simply unclipped all of these wires. this leaves several extra clips and wires in my headlight coming from my wiring harness.

What is the best way to eliminate these clips and excess wires without buying a new wiring harness? I don't want to cut them and just leave them in the wiring harness...

What all do i REALLY need to keep the bike running?

To do it right you need to unwrap the whole harness and remove the wires you don't need. Then rewrap it all.

When wrapping start about an inch away from where you want the tape to start and wrap away from the center to where you want the wrap to start and then reverse the wrap and go to well within where the main harness starts. Do all of the outlying branches first and wrap the main trunk of the harness last. Use the best electrical tape you can get (3-M makes good industrial stuff) and take your time. Slip a short piece of heat shrink over the main trunk of the harness and position it over the last turns of the tape. Heat the heat shrink up and the tape will be secured and it won't start to come unglued in the heat.

Perfect, thanks for the reply. Im a little nervous about doing this but if i just take my time and do a good job im sure everything will turn out alright.

I just purchased a new headlight from dime city cycles and the hole in the back is not wide enough to fit the larger main clip through. If i were to leave this clip out in open air would that cause an issue? is there another option, maybe mounting a small box to house the connection?

Wrap the clip in high quality electrical tape and siting behind the headlight will be fine.

Decided to hold off on undoing the wiring harness. I still have the battery and all electronics in the same place so it wont like nice and tight either way. got the headlight installed and everything seems to be fine...
