I know this is probably futile as I go through it every year and always come back to realization that I have the cheapest insurance I'm gonna get. But I still hate that I have to pay some faceless turd $700 a year for the most minimal liability-only coverage when I'm not going to get more than one frustrating, rained out Toronto summer out of it. I'm almost frigging 40, with no accidents or incidents, and it never goes down. I made the mistake of looking at Geico for the US equivalent and it was like $8 a month. Sorry, maybe you guys have had crashes and the insurance has helped you out but I've had bikes backed into TWICE and caved in and I just had to fix it myself as even if I had that coverage, it would have only driven it UP, so I fall more on the "it's all a f$%**!! scam" side of the fence.
I know $700 is cheap by comparison, I know nobody insures vintage bikes and mine are a 79 and a 69. I've been with State Farm and now Dalton Timmis via Jevco. But before I even bother GETTING it this year (I saved 100% by switching to NOBODY for a few years and it was fine, but I'm looking to go on more trips this year), does anyone have a line on a better insurer here in the city or anywhere near? Someone told me a few years back there was a shady Chinese insurance place here, just a step up from fake, and since the legitimate places are basically a fake service too, I don't have any moral hangups with that. Anyone here have a line on them or any good tips? Old guy in a dusty office, anything!
Thanks dudes, happy almost-riding season. Here's my CB650 while we're at it:
