Been Around the Block
I'm hopefully going to keep the updates coming on this build. I'm sure it will take me a long time. I bought this 1964 Ducati sc250 recently and I have plans of making a street tracker type bike. I'm no going to be using all the typical parts you can buy from off the shelf somewhere, everything will be hand made or sourced from 1960's-70's bikes. Wish me luck.

First up is a replica of the stock pipe made from SS and to make stiffeners for the frame. More pics to come in about 2 weeks.

I Have a similar project it's literally on the shelf as we speak because of $$$...Nice Tank...You gonna part with it?

I'm sand blasting this week and then listing it for sale. It's a Monza tank. I'll post a link to my add once it's up.

Here's some updates of the frame stiffeners.

Swing arm brace and Stainless exhaust will come next.

I'm having http://www.coopersmithingco.com/ do the frame work and exhaust. I don't have good enough equipment to do it myself. I'll be doing all the rest of the stuff myself once I get it back.

Not sure I quite understand this - if you're clamping the brace to the swingarm you'll be making the bike a hardtail??

No, the axle is lengthened an the swing arm pivots on the axle. The clamp is on the axle. After doing some research into the modifications that were down to these bikes to make them race bikes I found they did this. My bike is a narrow case. Racers or race bike builders would buy a wide case swing arm and do what I'm having done to stop the frame from twisting. I'm not goin to race this bike but I ride very spirited and want the bike to have era correct race refinements.

is that tank off a mach1?....it looks great!

It is a stock sc250 Scrambler tank. The tank that came on it was something I got the seller to throw in to sweeten the deal but wasn't the correct tank. The blue tank is what it should have had on it.

Update, profile of the frame brace and swing arm brace.

An article showing that the frame brace is a era correct modification. Look closely at the lower pic. You can see a similar brace as the one on my frame.
