Trade GS550 project for RC gear

Been Around the Block
I have a 1986 GS550 (inline 4-redline 10,500!!). Bike has good spark and runs on 2 cylinders that are fed by same carb - my guess is a good carb cleaning is all it needs. Missing seat and side covers. Good rubber and clear title.

I'm looking for a radio to control a RC boat also need speed controller as well. Let me know what you have, Bike is near Stratford Ont.

I've got some RC stuff laying around. A JR racing 3 channel radio and LRP Super Reverse electronic speed controller running a Reedy spec 19 quad mag in a modified HPI RS4 Super Nitro chassis. I don't know yet if I want to get rid of it or not. It's a project that I don't really have time for, but would love to get going again. Not that I have time for another bike for that matter, lol! I know I paid a fair bit for the stuff back a few years ago, somewhere in the region of $1200 by the time it was all said and done. Hardly been used at all. I'm in New Hamburg, a hop skip and a jump from Stratford.

Old school orange - Beer coupons are always in style - 500$

Rudy - I had a boat given to me by my father. I have NO IDEA what I actually need to control it. He was using a Futaba Attack 4 if that helps at all. - this is not a 1200$ bike

If the boat is an electric one and not a nitro (small IC engine) you'll need a motor, battery pack, speed controller and a radio. You'll likely need 2 channels for sure (fwd/rev, steering). If it's nitro, you'll need a 3 channel if it has a fwd/rev gearbox, and an engine. I have no experience with RC boats, and limited experience with cars/trucks. I was into it for a fairly short amount of time. Wasn't fast enough or loud enough for me. ;D Do a little looking around on the net. Info for RC stuff is pretty easy to come by.

Boat is powered by two 12v electric motors. I agree I need a radio and speed controller. The batteries are small 12volts from Princess Auto.

Hmmm, all my gear is for about 7 to 10 volts. That would need a speed controller from a dual motor 4x4 off road truck. They're kinda pricey too. A regular radio will work though. What happened to the speed controller that was in it before?

The Old Boy kept that along with the battery and radio because he has a couple car models as well.

Rudy you're so close I should pop over sometime even if it's only to look over your bike collection, kick tires and swap lies.

Sure thing, though it's kinda hit and miss for catching me at home. There's always something to do somewhere. Should start our own DTT chapter! 8) Lol! I still plan on making it to the city for a Timmie's night at least once this coming year.
