Trad's 74 CB550

Nice build so far!

I just wanted to make a small suggestion based on my experience with your taillight. I'm on my second one. I like it, but it is susceptible to water intrusion as is. My first one got some water in it during a ride in the rain and fried itself. When I got my second one, I sealed up the back of it with some silicone caulk to keep it dry. I haven't had a problem with the new one. I'm sure you don't plan on riding in the rain, but you never know when you are going to get caught out in it.

Keep it up!

Flugtechnik,

Thanks for the input man, i apretiate it. I'll pull it off and seal it up with some clear silicone. Did you go all the way around the seam on the back?

Edit: Just wanted to mention I'm using a modified version of the original rear plastic feeder liner./mud guard. Did you have anything like that in place when you got water damage in the tail light?

Yes, I sealed up every possible way for water to get in. Even around the rubber grommet the wires go through. I might have even put some in the screw holes, but I can't remember.

At the time my fender did not protect the light, just the engine. I have a bigger one on there now.
