Transporting a Motorcycle

I think I might've found a CB400T I'd want to get.
Problem is, the bike is 300km away, and I can't get my hands on a minivan or pickup.

A U-haul trailer costs 15$ for 6 hours. One way trailer would be over 60$

Is it feasible to fit a bike in the backseats of a sedan, after removing the front end and rear wheel?

feasible? maybe, but not worth it!. I tried this, in a 1996 Lumina. Biggest pain in the ass, and it still wouldn't fit. It was a cb350, and it just so awkward trying to shove a bike in, while trying not to rip the seats or the headliner. Unless your flat broke, and cannot find a trailer or truck, then go for it. But from a terrible and funny personal experience, pay for a trailer.

Good luck getting the bike tho! ;)

I don't think I would do the sedan...ask the guy if he would deliver it for what you can afford, some people are nice.

Maybe it's just me, but $60 for a trailer rental doesn't sound all that bad. *shrug*

The sedan idea might work, if you remove the front an rear wheels (and maybe forks too). Definitely remove the seats first, and throw a tarp in for good measure.

I crammed a Honda Superhawk into a Hillman Imp and for those of you unfamiliar with that particular British car - It's tiny. Think original mini.

Almost any min van will take at least two bikes. All you need are a few wrenches to pull of major bits. Get creative. If you want ti bad enough, you'll find a way.

wanting it bad enough is the mother of invention!

I had a suzuki wagon R+ (google it, you'll laugh.) and a cb200/125 fits right in, no hassle. Front wheel has to be removed if you're taking a buddy along. My gf was crammed up between the seat the dashboard for 200km on the way back XD first time around.

Is it feasible? Yes. Do you own a sawzall? How creative are you? Are you mechanically adept enough to take the lump apart and transport it? If the answer is no, then spend your fast food budget for the week on the effin trailer, and save yourself a lot of work and the large chance that you will become disenchanted with your disassembled bike and sell if for a fraction what you paid for it.

Not trying to be an ass, but I have a garage full of other people's lost interest stories...

Hmmm for some reason I have that same affliction. Go get the damn trailer, get it home, have fun or else shop closer. Heck I've borrowed 2 trailers from uhall in the last 3 weeks for 3 different bikes and drug them a total 250+ miles. I have NO idea when the next one will show up but I THINK I'm buying a freaking trailer next. ;D ;D
