"Traveler's" 1977 CB550K Cafe build

looks great, by the pictures i feel there is something missing by front end head light area...

fender? pedestrian slicer?

Well, the bike is done, with the exception of getting the carbs spot on (ordered new O rings for carb inlets, and have to eliminate any and all air leaks....i.e. 115 main jets and still WAY lean.....falls flat at 5,000 RPM)....and I ordered some Progressive front fork springs, as the stockers are just to mushy.

2 teeth smaller on front sprocket....5,100 RPM @ 60 MPH. Strong acceleration! (until brick wall at 5,000 RPM) :-\

Oh....took it out...even though lean and rode the crap out of her! Got home...later pulled the dip stick and she is out of oil! She was good on oil before I left! I guess she dosen't like the extra heat from being run lean! :-\

Thanks for the support.

he sold the bike on ebay hasnt been around since he didn't win bike o the month

You know how much the bike sold for on ebay?

This is a re-sale. Traveler sold it and this guy is selling again. $5600?!?!?! I need to go find me a 550!

What a shame to see a bike built with such love then sold off so quickly.

seems like its selling for about a buck per revolution of the engine according to his last posts.

I think this was his intent, the fact that he's not around speaks to that a bit. Nothing wrong with it. We all build for our own reasons. A lot of guys just like to build and need to sell after in order to fund the next project. nothing wrong with it and nothing wrong with seeing the prices go up a bit. just need to start thinking about what you throw away or pass on.

meh, w/e.. the guy constantly was bumping his thread complaining that people weren't admiring his build enough. The build was cool, but not that cool, and reading through his desperate attention whoring posts was cringe worthy.

That's all ok, but when parts get thrown about left right and centre to help out a brother or sister, we need to know if it's going for a profit or a ride. Not that I'm saying he's done that, I'm just saying is all. It'd be a shame to see build and sells on here impinging on that brotherhood.

Hes not around anymore (thank whoever you pray too), and not related to his bike, so I suppose it doesnt matter, but Im still a little miffed for some reason so Ill share anyway.

TRAVELER IS A HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING.

Reason #1: We got a hint of this, once he started his whine fest about the BOTM.
Reason #2: He provided almost NO positive input to anyone here.
Reason #3: The most damning, was quoted on another board not only badmouthing this site and its members, but going on an insane rant about the contested Islamic Community center in NYC. At one point he professed that he "hoped that someone would start going around and bombing Mosques", and "all Muslims are evil and want to kill all god fearing Americans". That was just the tip of the iceberg...

Long story short... Fuck that guy.
