Been Around the Block
I think its a 1951? Thunderbird? Any ideas on the asterix after the serial number?? Anyways, picked it up for a song, not seized, has compression... And its gonna be the heart for my next project.. Came with the transmission, engine / tranny mounts and a set of head pipes. Unfortunately none of the primary gear train... Carby isn't even seized up, although I have no idea of what it is other than its an amal with a remote float bowl??, that might make a nice shelf decoration... I've never taken on a british engine before so this should be an interesting project...

What you have is a mystery. According to my Triumph books, the 1951 engine serials all had a NA suffix after the numbers. You might have
something very unique.

The best place to ask would be:

or even better perhaps :

Thanks Alex, ive done some more research and I think I do have something different here. Its an alloy head and barrel close pitch fin motor, T100 castings on the case and barrel and a Unknown number On the head.. With a TBird serial number, almost...I'm going to post this in lounging at da club and plead for knowledge from a wider audience...

I would PM Swan ..he is someone who knows a lot about Pre Unit Triumph bikes

1951 650 t/bird....normal external oil drain back lines, no alloy until 54 only t110's had alloy. amal carb looks correct....it may be a mix of a few different items which is not uncommon...just need to know what goes with what so you do not have issues...

It's all 500 as we mentioned in the other thread. Carb dates it as an early one though - probably 51-54 (pre-monobloc)
