Triumph tracker

This is my Triumph project almost had it done this summer. I raced this bike in Dist 14 dirt track in 2000 and 2001. Now its going back on the street. Built most of it with swap meet parts.

The frame is a stock 65 triumph. The wheels are Morris I had powder coated silver. The rear brake is an old Performance machine set up fronts are TZ750 disc i found at a swap meet. All three calp. are Gremica I made the fork mounts. I used a BMW fr master cyl under the gas tank so its got clean levers on the bars and the rear master cyl off a Honda 500 Intercepter. Only problem I got is finding a cool tail light.

Those Morris mags are great! As far as a tailight, I went the cheap route and bought a replacement/trailer 3in. rectangular light from Pep Boys for around $10-does the job and looks decent.

Before I raced it I used a steel fender and a trailer light. I made a mount for the light and licences plate out of steel but now I got one of those classic alumineam ones with the rib down the middle. I'm afraid it wont hold the weight .............. for long. I was thinking of one of those makarony noddle jobs. Or somthing off the swing arm, keep the fender clean. No place left for a battery either so I plan to stick it in a leather tool bag behind the seat.

This is my racer for next year. She needed every thing redone or replaced. Just waiting on the top ends port job and its ready. Looks a 100% better now than the pic. I'll post a finished pic when the motors back.

When I say street/tracker, that's what I'm talking about!

Looks nice. I'm working on my SR and will have some photos up. I'm putting number plates on both for the real look and to hide my tail lights and license plate. I 've got a stainless fender on the back, but still am concerned about vibration cracking with weight and messing up the look. It looks so smooth. I have a headlight trick coming up possibly too. I'm doing some nostalgia and putting my old numbers from 73 on it.

Good job with the look , good fortunes on the Bul. Picture looks like the tires were studded for ice? The front looks like one of the ice tires.

Thanks klx . I agree on the tail light it flows so nice with out any thing there, but I worrie about other drives not seeing a brake/tail light thats down low on side of the bike . I like cleaness on the handle bars with out a master cyl up there, just two of the same levers. Had a nother idea for my battery insted of in a tool bag behind the seat cover it with a pad so it looks like a pillon pad the racer would skoot back on when ya get to the strate on the track. Ya those are ice tires on the Astros thats how the PO had it when he left it under a tree in his yard. Bikes a mess piston was missing lots of rust. It all started with a plan to do a racer on the cheep ............. NOT. I could of had a runner for what I spent sofar and it noteven that close yet. The classic story.

Wow Im jealous I love astros, been looking forever for just a frame but most astro parts are out of my range at the moment. Cant wait to see a pic of both finished. I dig the Triumph as well.

I raced the triumph but always thought be better to use a real track bike. The Astro just seems right. www,vft.org TONS of parts and two Astros one runner and a add for just a frame & fork 400 bucks

You know it would be possible to stick an LED taillight in the back of the pillion pad too. Then hang the plate down as a chain guard or do the number plate thing too.

I might have a sourdce for some reasonable Bultaco work and stuff. A friend has a shop that he works out of but not on a serious level. He doesn't do mail order or on-line stuff, but has bought out a few small inventories and has a huge amount of Bul stuff. He doesn't think it's "gold" either, he's fair in all he does. Used to be a Bultaco mechanic in Dover Ohio. PM or email me if you're close enough in PA to reach the Millersburg area about 30 miles west of I77. I may be able to hook you up.

Thanks that light idea just may be the ticket, I'll be out to the shop tomorrow and see how that looks. I may need to talk with your freind at some point if i get to make a trip back east to NJ this winter. I need to talk with the motor guy and see if he thinks the stock expantion pipe will work or if it needs a Circle F pipe ? Post some new pics tomorrow.

OK I set the battery behind the seat its about the right size for a pillion pad, Use the two led lights on a cover over the battery and ???? Still waitng on the Astro brake parts are on back order and the motor guy still has not worked on my stuff arrggg. but I did get the rear wheel laced with new spokes, polished the fork and did some fiberglass rep

MMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm... silver frame...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Bultaco...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Finally made progress. The brake parts just got here after two month back order on the caliper. ARGGGG So I got a plate made for the master cyl. Cut out a brake lever like a stock one. I got the hubs all bolted up on the rebuilt wheel. Making the brake stay rod and the pull rod for lever/master cyl. using hiem jounts. I have to do some thing on the cheep so I"m doing the seat myself. I layed a fiberglass base over the fender and glued some carpet pad to it. Some place I have a peace of wild nagit hide I'll have to search for that tomorrow, or use one of my old leather jackets that dont fit any more.

Put on the cover for the seat today. I cut the back out of an old leather jacket. Made the hole seat from scratch and it didnt cost a dime.
