Thanks for the kind words everyone. Truly an honor to be recognized by both Iron & Air and DTT. I have to admit though, when I opened the mag I was more excited to see so many great friends get face time in the mag. So cool to flip the pages and see everyone.
The Willow pics do have a cool story though, and I'd like to share. Gregory George Moore, their photographer, road with Doug (Beatnic) on CC Rider's bike. Doug and I ride together and we are pretty comfortable with each. When we ride we know each others style and ability. It's almost like finishing someone's sentences. Doug tunes race suspensions and is probably one of the best riders I know. Even though he was on an unfamiliar bike, with an unfamiliar passenger, I knew his ability was well beyond handling what we were about to do.
Anyhow, we headed out of the park for some twisties. I rode ahead for a piece and sometimes I trailed, but most of the time we were side by side.
In fact we took many of the turns side by side with not much space between us. At one point mid turn bumps at high speed made me think of Mr Moore. We were close enough to touch but Doug and I kept our lines. I glanced over and could see Gregory tucked in behind Doug like a speed demon. He was shifting his weight to adjust after being ajared. It was then I realized he still had both hands on his camera. Though I could tell he was looking for somewhere to hold, I honestly think up to that point he hadn't even considered not getting the picture. He was in it to capture the best pictures and everything else was an after thought. All the way back to the park I couldn't stop thinking about Mr Moore, hanging off the back of Doug's bike, screaming thru those turns taking pictures. A picture of that would have been simply awesome.
Back in the park, awhile later, Doug asked me if I had any idea how fast we were going when we hit the bumps side by side in the turns. Of course I didn't have an answer other than damn fast. But I was not at all surprised he looked at a speedo at that point. (Doug has big gonads, haha) Doug grinned and said 70 miles and hour. believe me it takes a lot to make Doug grin. That answer still has me shaking my head at Mr Moore's fearlessness.
I will say after meeting and hanging out with the Iron and air folk they are salt of the earth. They are extraordinary people who hold the lamp on us ordinary men. Much respect and love for Iron & air magazine and the people who run it.
Oh yeah, Welcome to our house Admin@iron&air.com
