OK, so having posted in other folks' threads, I guess it's time to post up my project. The main project is a Yamaha XV920R (chain drive). I'm not sure it belongs in a cafe racer thread yet, because the bodywork is still TBD.
It sat ignored for a year, so I was happy to make some progress this last weekend:
Exhaust plumbing for the turbo:
Just tack-welded in this shot. In fact, I've already re-done the feed from the front cylinder to move the turbo forward an inch or two.
Its already gotten a GSXR 750 front end, CBR600F4 swingarm, CBR wheels, etc.
Still in the works: Megasquirt EFI, spark and boost control.
Louie, on this bike, I did a custom upper/forward frame, and relocated the rear suspension under the transmission - all to make lots of room for the turbo and plumbing. In my daily ride, I cut away the portion of the frame behind the rear cyl, but left the monoshock in its original location. You might could do that and still squeeze the turbo in there.
Well, this continues to be the slowest build ever. I did, however, get all the exhaust plumbing completed, and integrated the original XV chain drive enclosure with the CBR wheel, tire and swingarm:
Of course, part of the reason this is going so slow, is that I can't keep from fiddlin' with my daily ride. New tail section:
I'm doing megasquirt DIY EFI, mainly so I can control the ignition timing and fueling better under boost. The stock advance will probably result in kaboom, as will lean fueling:
I made it 'modular', since I haven't yet decided between the current bullet fairing and 7" headlite, or the 8" XV-R light, or the XV-R light and Greer S1 fairing.
I'm leaning toward the XV-R unit
