Two stroke bikes, your thoughts.

Hey Cats, im a bit bored at work. Was just thinking what you guys thought of oil burners as cafe bikes. I have never not rode one. Ive had a few four strokes and liked them well enough but always did my dirty with a two stroke. Am I just an odd ball? :eek:

Its not cool to ride it to your first date and smell like a moped, but its the top of fun!

Hell yeah. That thing looks like fun. I got my triple amped up pretty good. She really eats at 6k and up. They certainly are fun. I just always seem to be the oddity.
 
Yes Sonci, you are an oddball. None of us would even consider riding anything as anti social as a 2 smoke. Ahem. OK so that's a bare faced lie. :)

Depends on teh two stroke. An NSR is about as racer as you could want - cafe or other. RZs make great street bikes. RDs are an old favorite because they are closely related to the TD/TR/TZ race bikes. Even our old Suzuki triples make great custom hooligan bikes.

An old 2 stroke is ideal in that it offers all of the excitement but at a lower speed than a modern bike. They also tend to be more simple than a diesel.

76' KH500. Best handling frame of the triples, Got port work, lakes cdi, high energy coils, ivans jets/ needles, denco chambers, modified squish heads, labyrinth sealed crank. Clubmans and some rearsets.I bought this one as a basket case 10 years ago and have been enjoying since. This is the third triple I've had. Im trying to upload a pic from my phone but I think its too big. At work in an oilfield lol. Ive thought about doing a tail but I kinda like the factory body work. Im a tall guy so having that long sest really lets me shift my weight around (kind of important when your bike dont have a lot to begin with). Really the only downside its got is she is wide. Those chambers take up a lot of room down low so I have to really watch my lean angles. Usually someones best chance is to take me in a turn. But as soon as im out..... you better be gone cuz im coming fast. ;D
 
Never again. Grabbing a handful in 5th gear and flipping it over backwards one time was enough for me. I just rob the front drum wheels and send the rest to new homes these days.

Still debating turning my CL100 into a chainsaw...
 
Nice Scruffy. Nice..... lol. Never up and over wheelied one. But have come out of a turn and was too eager on the throttle and lifted the wheel before I was comfortably upright. Thats scary.
 
Kawa triples with some overall tuning(not much cosmetic) are sex on wheels!!!! :D :D
 
LOVE 2 strokes.

I have a few 2 stroke machines myself, and I love the smell of the blue smoke. Last weekend here in So cali, there was the annual 2 stroke smoke extravaganza at Cooks Corner in Orange County. Sadly, I missed it because of some other committments . Dont know about it? youtube some vids! ;)
 
Yeah same thought floegstad. I think they are way good looking stock. The brakes leave a bit to be desired. but they really catch the eye. Although the sound is usually what draws most people.
 
Do it Justin. ....you know you want too.... annoy the neighborhood. ..stink up intersections... cause fourwheelers to smear their windshield. ...we are all mad here...lol.
 
Two stroke bikes, your thoughts.

2 strokes are stupid , smelly, obnoxiously loud, and have to be ridden at full throttle. I can't imagine anything better than that.

I'm currently building a cr500 chopper and have a gt750 waiting to be built. I use to have a HRC spec NSR 250 and it was the most fun you can have on a street bike.
