Two-up cafe seat anyone? Or is it an oxymoron?

Been Around the Block
I am wanting to add some cafe flavor to my GS400S. I dont want to go radical with it because it is a daily rider and my only mode of transportation.

So far hunted doing some spoke wheels for it that I want to refurb and replace the front rim to a 17inch...

It ooks like this bike but is red. I was thiniking of building a bump in lieu of the rear tail section but I thing it may look akward... the seat may be too long...

Just wondering what others have done on bike that they had wated to keep two[up compliant...

You could always make a seat hump, and mount it on top of the seat so it looks like a "cafe" seat. You could attach it to the frame with dzus fasteners so you could remove it quickly too if need be.

I want to say I've seen something like this done before. I believe it was a benji's seat that benji custom designed for a guy so he could have a solo seat and still have his wife ride with him. sorry, I don't have a link.

I don't know of a build thread on this board...but Im pretty sure certain bikes had this option from the factory. I'm sure if you search around the interwebs you will find.something that catches yer attention.

I have a single seat on my Beemer, for any distance work or two up riding I just swop back to the original comfy seat, it takes about five minutes, unless you are going to chop the original seat, this may be the simplest option.

Just did a quick search on the Triumph Thruxton, the new model, and im pretty sure it has a removeable "seat hump". Might wana take a look, obviously your seat is shaped a bit differently, but you could pull it off.

I can make you said movable cowl seat if we can work out the details of your needs . or I can make one any length you choose . As in picture typically $100 movable would be more In both cases you would need to provide foam and cover Ken

So I'm considering buying a 77 cb750 but it's currently a one seater. My gf would be none too pleased if I couldn't take her on rides...and being able to take the ladies for a ride is one of the + sides of riding in my opinion. What are my options for a two seater cafe tail?

Both BSA [ Taylor-Dow 60's] and BMW [ Airheads ] made a "1 1/2" seat.

As the name suggests, just about room for two.

The other aternative would be to have two easilly interchangeable seats.

^^^^This is my plan^^^^(only with 3)

Then I can have a Cafe Tail section, Fish Tail section, and this factory ugly oaf for double riding

I think that this kid did an awesome job on a 2 in 1 2 seater.

In the vid at the end it looks like he has 2 pins holding it in place. Keeps it from sliding. Not a bad idea dude. Good work. Those sliders are strong enough and don't bend or anything?

Checkout the Honda GB500 seat and factory quick release cowl.
The factory seat can be used for occasional dual use by removing the cowl.
