Un-Hiding Wires on 750F

Been Around the Block
I have a '76 cb750F and I am in the process of swapping the stock bars out for ace bars. Things were going smoothly, but I have hit a small snag.

The wires for the turn signals, starter, hi beams, etc. are run through the stock bars. I have all the wires disconnected and I am all set to pull the wires out of the bars. The problem is that they will not budge. Has anybody run into this problem?

I did some pretty hard pulling and got very little results. I wanted to see if anybody has any finesse tips before I go back to brute force and break something on the bike or myself.

Thanks,
Matt

Get 'em out one at a time until they all go. Try going the other way (hiding the wires in the bars).

WD40 helps too.

Silicone spray did the trick for me when I pulled the wires from the bars of my old CB.

Lubrication will get you a long way, and make sure you're pushing and pulling, not just pulling or they'll bind up and likely tear something before they come out. Grab the control end of the bundle and try to shove it inside the bars as you pull from the other side.

Thanks for the help. A couple of quick questions.

I am planning on using the silicon spray to loosen things up. I would assume that I need to keep the spray off of the wire connectors as it is flammable, and it would be a good idea to unwrap the wires (they are currently taped into a single harness) and re-tape them. Is that correct?

So far it seems like I should be able to get the wires out of the bars without having to disconnect the the ends at the hand controls. Is this correct?

Again, thanks for your help,
Matt

Snip the wires and re solder later. Thats way easier.

Not sure what "ace" bars are but be careful to check that your controls don't hit the tank. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right spot. Also the steering stop may need to be altered.
