Let me start off by saying that it has been atleast a season since I have last been on DTT. I had to say I missed it. My first cafe bike was a 1984 Suzuki Gs450. She was fun but had to let her go due moving around and such. So I decided that it has been way to long since I have been on a ole' vintage. So my brother and I decided to go pick up bikes and do it all agian! ;D 8)

Please keep all NEGATIVE comments off this thread. Im not a harsh guy and I dont bash others threads, So I do expect the same from others.

Im not a professional bike builder. Nor do I claim to be. I just LOVE nostalgic bikes. My love brings alot of passion into my builds. Im not the best welder, fabricator, or upholster....But I do love doing everything without paying someone.

So with all that being said..... Here are some photos from a recent shoot of me and my brothers bike. Yes. His is a bobber....but very cool. I think slowly he is becoming a BIG fan of the cafe racers.

My bike is a 78' Honda Cb400TII Hawk. Some people hate them...Some love them. At First I I liked, then I hated, Now I love.

The bobber is a 76' Honda Cb350 turned bobber.

Here is a pic of what my bike "USE" to look like when I first got her. Sorry I didnt get a chance to take a before pic because I immediately wanted to tear her down.

My inspiration for my bike was a brat style bike / Derek De Spain Honda Cb 750....

Here are the lovely shots for ya guys. No the best photographer either but hey.... Works.

My build for the 400 is pretty much done besides grabbing a pair of Shinko 241 Dual Purpose tires......
I plan to pick up a Cb750 and do another build. My brother his bobber is pretty much wrapped up since it is his first bike....He hopes to get a Cb550 or 750 aswell. Thanks for viewing.

Sick bikes man. Love both of them. I'm really starting to dig the old bobbers. Any chance you have more pics of both bikes minus the artsy black and white stuff.

Again killer rides bud

These bikes are sick. I'm more of a bobber fan, but they both look awesome. I can't wait to see what kind of stuff you build in the future.

Thanks for all the wonderful replies! Much appreciated.... as requested here are the unedited photos from the shoot.

So some were left out of the collection hehe. We do have a funny sense of humor.

Or fenders? Too much emphasis on looking cool I suspect. What's with those rear shocks without any bracing to take forces into the frame appropriately. I'm not a fan of incomplete and potentially dangerous bikes.

I do like that pipe though.

The rear shocks are braced... I boxed them in with gussets. You cant see it but I made sure of this. Personally Im not a big fan of fenders. Thanks for the concern guys. Yea I wouldnt want to ride a dangerous bike as well.

Not exactly. The shocks transfer suspension forces into the frame. In this example those forces are applied close to the mid point of that rear tube where the tube will deflect slightly. It should have a tube from the shock mount to the main frame tube.

Fenders keep rocks and small kids and water out of your pods and electrics. At the front it also contributes to bracing the fork sliders.

That bike as shown is dangerous. It's your bike, and your life, but that thing is set to cause you some serious pain. Just sayin'.

Since you say to keep negative comments out i dont understand what you want.
Sounds like you must have gotten alot of negative comments or just plain help but you wanted to "make it your own"
There is alot thats poorly done and maybe you dont know it but im not going to post to be "negative"
How are the rear shocks mounted to the frame? almost looks welded right to the frame? I cant see how they pivot when the shock is compressed. Also after changing the geometry did you do the math to get the right spring rates?

But really someone cant post pictures and then only want to hear positive things.
Sure its no help to anyone if some posts "that thing is freakin ugly" but its not much help to just hear "great job" all day either

Things can be separated into opinions and suggestions too
So may have opinions about playing dress up and such, but others have suggestions about fenders, shocks, filters, fork braces, brakes, ect ect.
its been amazing how many people just "build" something because they saw a picture of a bike on google image. thats fine and its good to get new people involved but there should be some understanding that goes along with it.
without getting into one of those great debates of a "true cafe" lets just agree that some think that its a look and some think that there is a function. either way they are different and different people like different stuff. BUT help can come from both camps
I have seen more then one person take all the fenders off for the look, but then a function guy points out that it weakens the forks and throughs crap all over parts that should not have crap thrown at them. Is that being negative? is pointing out that cheap emgo filters offer little filtration and cause tons of tunning issues and if a person must run pods atleast spend a few bucks on better components. How about pointing out that changing shock angles effects the spring rate needed and may or may not negatively effect the handling?

Most come back with a comment about how its there bike and they built it how they wanted, or how they just do 30mph between bars or how if they wanted performance they would ride what ever gsxrxxxrrrsssrrsxs is in there garage. I personally see that as a cop out but thats me. People can do what ever they want.
Sometimes a person stops for a moment and thinks about the "mods" they are doing after being informed though.

I just think that if you are going to make a bike worse then the stock bike that you started with you should really have a complete understanding of how what you are doing is working to try and stay safe.

Keep negative comments out? When you post up boring hipstertastic photos of unsafe bikes for the whole world to see, expect to get called on your half-assed job.

The real world isn't puppies and sunshine. If you're taking all this personally, I'd say you're being too sensitive. What the hell happened to having a thick skin? As much trash talking as I/we like doing, there's a point to it. I don't want to see you or anyone else die because you wanted to look cool. And I don't want to see 'the man' crack down on custom bikes because people keep building them in an unsafe manner. Do it right, and it will look good without having to try.

Personally i dont like the look of either bike, but thats a personal thing. there are however much better ways to get that look and not cut all of the corners you did in the build

Ringo nice to see you still around. miss you over on the sohc board.
DTT is kinda turning into a large scale version of.....never mind....lol

Surffly, hey mate! I still read a bunch over there...just prefer to stay in the shadows nowadays, and let TwoTired and others be the grouchy ones! ;D

Not to jump on the pile here...

Any info on how you guys hardtailed a CB350 frame? Not an easy one to do properly. Ive seen good and really bad. Just wondering where this one falls.

Ringo you should stop over on the other cafe site.
Yeah sohc has its share of "those" guys. But it's like that everywhere

As for hard tailing I'll be the first to admit I'm not an expert as hard tails don't interest me.
BUT on top of actually welding the tube well there are alot of importans things like type of joints and angles that are important

Im not the biggest bobber fan in the world...but THAT MUTHER FUKER BE SWEET!

You guys look pretty gangsta, i must say. blink 182 ant got nutten on ya
