Been Around the Block
Anyone from the capital region? I'm local to Schenectady, which is home to Electric City Riders Club and a couple other riders groups. Still in school and haven't had time to hang out with any riders. Stop by and talk shop sometime.

thanks for the invite I don't get up that way very much. Use to make trips to Albany to go to Rover North with my brother. But, he moved to Tenn. so the farthest I make it on a regular occasion is mid Hudson valley for wine tasting. New Paltz is about the farthest North.
Oh and the show in Rheinbeck every year, Never miss a Grand National.

Cheers Mortikan

Well well well,

Mort.. I just saw Will and we were talking about you... Where have you been young man.. did you finish the 650????

Lemme kNow.. I still have your freakin pin ups!!!

I'm from the mid-Hudson Valley (New Paltz), but make it up north sometimes. A riding buddy of mine lives near Syracuse, we'll meet in Albany and ride from there. Looks like the Electric City Riders run flattrack races-might have to stop in and see that!

Mortikan, I'll be in New Paltz for the summer. Bike will be back on the road in a few weeks, as soon as I'm back in the country. Look me up if you're in the area, there are some great roads up in the mountains!

I have done some nice wine tasting in that area Glorie vineyard is very nice so is brotherhood
and spent a weekend at the mohonk mountain house. Let me know when your back and we can see about meeting up.
As for you seth, I am here Just laying low lately. I have your dough for the pinups do you want me to paypal it to you. I will be around and yes the xs is on the road. but, as it turns out my carb is giving me issue on the vespa. sticky throttle. and I am still playing with different jets I have the idol jet all set now the main is being worked out.

cheers Mortikan

I'm in Scotia, and i just got my first bike - a '77 CB400F. I'd be interested to know if there are any decent shops around that are familiar with older bikes, any suggestions?

What kind of work do you need done? Steve at M&S Cycle is located in your town (right outside the 24 hour Walmart), he knows everything about British and Japanese motorcycles. If you need any mechanical work done, you should give him a visit. Tell him Emmet sent you!

upstate NY must be a blast to ride in. I used to go to school at Ithaca College and also grew up skiing/snowboarding at Gore Mtn. I loved driving those roads. In fact my first time ever driving a car was from Whiteface to Chesterburg when I was 14 years old. I could get lost for hours riding up there.

for the 3 months it isn't snowing, yeah, it's very good riding ;)

thats kind of what I meant. After going living in the finger lakes region, I had enough of winter in NY to last a lifetime I think. But summer is awesome there. Camping at Putnam Pond is a blast and Lake Placid is beautiful. I guess I find myself missing it a bit since it's now inaccessible as a weekend opportunity.

Mortikan-I'm back, and the bike's on the road! Let me know if you're around New Paltz-incidentally, I know the winemaker at Glorie, and am working at the Mohonk Mountain House...small world...

Glorie makes some of the better wines I have tried up that way the owners are very friendly If I remember correctly jumping judy I think it was awsome.

I have had lunch a few times at the mountain house it's nice but expensive

I will be up New york way june 11th saturday for rheinbeck Grand national
Are you going? If so we should plan on meeting up I am always up for meeting DTT people.

Cheers Mortikan

I go to school in Plattsburgh. There are some pretty nice roads around by whiteface that I can't wait to get my hands on.

Hey Mortikan-I'll be at Rhinebeck, hopefully both days...dividing time between the AMCA show and the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome's opening weekend-we should definitely meet up!

Cheers Mortikan

Whats up fellas? I too am a Upstate New Yorker from Herkimer, NY. I am famiiar with all that you guys speak of regarding Gore Mountain and the capital region as my grandma lives in Schenectady. MidnightCafe is correct, if you are in the Scotia, NY area and need work done, stop by and see Steve at M&S Cycle. He's a good friend of my Dad's and has done a lot of work on his british bikes. Matter of fact, he's restoring a tanks right now for my dad's 1946 James :)

What goes down at Rhinebeck? I'll be up in Lake George this Saturday maybe ill have to make a stop if its not that far away.

Well if you google it Rhienbeck is one of 7 grand national motorcycle shows put on in the US every year. A lot of old american bikes you will see running bikes from 1898 and up. there is a wall of death put on, and a very large swap meet.
there are also a number of national clubs that have there meet at the same time. vjmc, the morgan car club puts on a car show at same time. antique tractor show. it is a 3 day event. as to lake george your about 2 hours north of rhienbeck when your in lake george.
anyway it's a good time every year you get to see things you would never see anywhere else.

I will be going up on saturday, I always find it's the best day for the vendors. (always looking for parts)

Cheers Mortikan

I think I'm going to try and head up for Saturday as well. Kind of crazy my friend just moved from long island up to Ghent looks like that is about 40 minutes to the show in Rhinebeck. This is the first I’m hearing of the event this weekend.
Super excited to head up there and go out riding the roads look great and it might be nice to get a break from the traffic.

most of the major roads in the area are nice even if you are on the taconic parkway it's very relaxing. lot different than roads in CT as well.
always enjoy the riding in the area
