Using pertronix ignition on CB175

Cibby600

Been Around the Block
Hello all,

Anyone using a Pertronix electronic ignition set up on their CB twin?
I was looking at purchasing this and modding it to suit:

Thoughts?

Cheers.

I dunno Cibby, while that is a great price, might be a whole lot of messing around to get it to work.

Just thinking about the points plate not lining up somehow.

I had a look at Bateman Racings pages and links and it seems do-able.
You need to remove the sensor off that plate and fit it to the existing points plate.
I'm going to give it a go when I get to that stage of the build and let you guys know!

Cheers.

pertronix can be adapted to an early honda with a cam fired ignition and a 360 degree crank(USCRA racers use this set up),,,,won't work of your cb 175

If I read this correctly, looks like it will work on a 175???

"Honda CB175 High-revving with a hard-charging nature of the engine producing 20 bhp. The engine was basically the same as the CD175, although it had twin carburettors, a lumpier camshaft and an extra gear. The bike ran on a 360 degree crankshaft in which both pistons rose and fell together."

If this is correct, it should work. Most of the research I have done seems to say that this will work and the 175 uses a 360 degree crank.
