Hi All,
Manual states gauging valves at 0.05 mm for both inlet and exhaust valves
Is this what everyone else found successful ?
or are you using other settings?
cheers ACEitup

Yep , 0.05mm is "standard" on these OHV engines - FWIW I run the exhaust a "loose" 0.05mm :)

Ha - I went with the CG125 Manual and running 0.08. Totally didnt check the skyteam manual. I might just suck it up until 2000k, because I'll get the stripped thread done at the same time.

Hi all
Thanks for the confirming settings,
Pretty unsure going into this!
Cracked the top off it, honestly thought I snapped bolt the off at first !
but all good and opened the side crankcase cover that says SKYTEAM
and pulled the spark plug.
upon first inspection with peek hole open and T line in position with case mark
I had no! valve clearance!
I had first service by Motociclo @ about 300k's with an oil change at each 100k.
bit anal but hey! so finding no gap was suprising ???
Saying that I'm on 1600 k's now!
Anyway loosen it all up and set at 0.051mm (cause that's the closest on my gauge)
Result ,
Sounds good, actually I think maybe quieter???
next time I could do that in 10 min I reckon :-\
cheers ACEitup

Finding no gap makes it seem all the more worthwhile ;)
I'm quite convinced the Chinese motors come shipped set with no clearance - I have always set mine up from new or within a hundred miles or so .

Unusual for them to be noisy surprisingly - the gaps tend to close up but have a look here for the general idea:

HELP !!! I set the clearence but seems like i set it too much and it became more noisy .. and currently i cant unscrew 1 of the top cap screw and the crankcase screw.. what should i do now?

how do you know if the engine is on the compression stroke when lining up the T mark? in the vid it just said: line it up - but it may not be the right stroke..."

on setting motor to t mark in one of two t marks showing the valves will be rocking...ie no gap. roll another 360 deg and both valves are shut..have gap

put your finger over the sparkplug hole to feel it come up on comp stroke

thanks for that. makes sense!

Hi All,
Just checked valves again,
a 1000Ks later
exhaust valve was slightly open,
inlet perfect,
Its a very easy task to do after the first time
so I will check them again in another 1000
cheers

Hi, When I was a M/C mechanic in the 70s and 80s working on Hondas. My boss always said that the valve clearance on a CG125 was 2 thou inlet and 4 thou exhaust. He always said it as nowt and twice as much. Hope this helps.
