vapor blasting

I just got some parts back from Vaporblast Canada (vaporblastcanada.com) and I'm very impressed. The bike I'm fixing up was stored outside under a tarp for 20 years so corrosion is a big issue. After I saw pictures of vapor blast results I thought I'd give it a try and it appears to be the answer! The parts came back super clean with a silky luster to them. The process, which incorporates water and abrasive, does not scratch or change the metal--it just cleans it gently but thoroughly. I want to do the whole motor next! See the before and after pictures. I have more pictures but unfortunately it won't let me post them

Looking good! I need an excuse to send some stuff their way - nice to have a Canadian option.

Are you going to paint it or leave it raw?

Getting my whole motor done soon and looking for an answer to this question,

I'd suggest leaving vapor blasted stuff raw. It should hold up well, and paint just flakes.

I got both valve covers, the clutch cover, starter covers, water pipe elbows, oil filter cover and bolt and a large bolt for $100--cheap for the fantastic job. I intend to leave it bare--it looks great as is. Kevin at Vaporblast recommends an aircraft protectant called AFC-50 to protect the aluminum or the whole motorcycle for that matter but I haven't tried it yet...

I finally got pics of my motor after everything was vapor blasted. She has never looked this good before. Mine was done by Vapor Blasting at Bikesalot (http://www.vaporblasting.biz/)
