Depends where you are and how old the vehicle is
California will probably give you a hard time on a 'newer' vehicle but something from the 70's may be OK (in the 60's very few bikes had breather going into air box)

yeah but hes right though, seeing as the bike is only an 84, i couldnt get away with the age thing.
fuckshit. ive got the standard plumbing and canister, but no stock airbox. so ive just put some steel pipe into the hose so it dosent get crushed, then shoved that between the pod filter and intake boot. but its still not allowing enough flow to stop the engine pressurizing and making the engine run like crap.
once roadworthy inspection is done, ill be putting the filter back on the breather nd running like that. just need a sufficient setup to get through roadworthy.
I would try and get a carbon canister from a newer bike (water cooled Suzuki Bandit 1250 use them) and say it didn't need recirculating as canister catches any hydrocarbon emissions.
I'm pretty sure you could get away with that?

My 68 CB250 SuperSports only had a hose coming out of the rocker cover that goes straight to the ground.. So if they want to yellow me, can produce the factory workshop manual and show them how she came from the factory
I'm pretty sure that a bike has to comply with ADRs in place at the time of manufacture/import. Back in 84 I think all bikes had the engine breather venting into the airbox. If you do that, you should be good. Anything much older had an open vent from the crankcase.
The trick is to avoid getting pulled by the cops and if they do stop you for random breath tests etc and try to give you a ticket, make them (politely) cite the ADR and Construction and USe regs that apply to your bike and to specify how it fails to meet that spec. If you're a smart arse they'll probably impound the bike and make you prove that it is legal and that would be sub optimal as they say.
I really don't think that will be an issue. If your get rego you will be OK. And taht's where you might have some issues, so be ready to counter that with parts diagrams or manuals etc.
But really this is Australia, a carton of beer should get you the roadworthy with a few things overlooked if you know the right people. I don't know how strict they are down in Vic but up here most of the roadworthy places wouldn't give a jack.
i think i figured the problem with shoving the vent hose into the pod. its one of the cheap pods that has the internal rubber "ridge" which when attached directly to CV carbs screws with the vacuum ports. well in this instance its blocking my breather by my pushing the hose in and then resting against that ridge.
If you have to run it into 'pod', use a 'Y' then drill inlets into the flat rear section
Personally, if I had to do that, I would run a catch tank first
