Vintage headlight to H4/modern headlight conversion?

Here's an odd question....
I'm working with a cool old Hodaka headlight; speedo built in and all, and I want to use it on my 1994 Suzuki Savage Roadster build. I have the original bulb, but it's a 6Volt unit, so useless to me, besides I really want as much visibility as possible, so here's my thought....

If I had the right bit for my dremel, I believe I could cut the back of the original sealed beam lamp out, and the epoxy in a fitting to be able to use an H4 bulb, or possibly HID?
Bulbs and HID kits seem pretty easy to come by, but what about the fitting itself? I suppose I could carve up a modern light; possibly even the one that came with the bike (I need to look at them more closely this weekend).
What kind of epoxy would I need, and what kinds of problems am I not seeing? Other options?
Any input would be great. Thanks guys!

Very possible if you have room for the new lamp between the reflector and the speedo in the rear of the housing.

Bonding metal to the glass is not terribly challenging, and the heat should stay below 200f I expect.

Others have done similar, although a more modern reflector and lamp housing may be easier to adapt to the headlight bucket than modifying the old glass sealed beam.

try looking on dimecitycycles.com. they have a few options when it comes to H4 lens. i ordered a 7" H4 lens, now i need a bucket to and it will be sweet!

Thanks Guys!
This is encouraging. I know I have an odd old bucket to work with, but it came with a working speedo for cheap, and I really want to make it work. I'm just trying to sort out all of my options. If I can find a whole light that will fit right in that isn't too expensive, I'll probably go with that, but if that's to hard to work out I was hoping to have a plan B...
