Virago wheel help needed

So, I have a 1982 xv750 with italic wheels and a 1984 xv700 with wire wheels.

I'm putting the 700 engine into the 1982 frame, that all seems like a straight swap in theory.

The problem is the wheels....

I'm wanting to put the 1984 (second generation) forks onto the 1982 (first generation) frame so I have dual discs.
In theory this should be fine as both have identical inside dimensions for their head bearings so I'm thinking I simply use the first gen steering spindle.

The wheels however are not so simple :(

Finding an italic front wheel that will fit the front while lining up the brake discs seems very hard so keep the wire wheels? Well, this poses two issues:

1. How to change the rear wire wheel so it fits perfectly in the first gen frame?

2. I'm thinking about having the hub removed and an larger outer rim made for it but how big can I go? I'm thinking 17 or 18" but with wheel being soooooo close to swing arm have to be carful... Also got to think about what size tyre would then be used?

Any help would be very gratefully received.

Those spoked rear wheels sell for $700 plus everyday so maybe you should keep the mags and part the rest out.

Been parting the rest out, and it's flying out so great as keeps cost of conversion down :)

But I can't find a front wheel for second generation that matches the rear wheel for first generation :( and the brake disc figment are different between 1st & 2nd
