Want To Buy an RD400 or XS360 tank

IIRC, there were a few different XS360 tank styles, which one are you looking for? I don't have one, but I'm willing to try to help you find one, if you can tell me which one you want... posting a few photos of the style you want could really help also.

hey thanks kneedragger,the XS360 tank that's really boxy,I believe its a 76'..

I actually prefer the RD400 tank,so if you can help with that instead,i'd be eternally grateful ;D

Man, I've seen some of those RD400 tanks on CL recently, so if the ads are still posted, I'll try to give you some leads...

Check back here frequently over the next several days; if I post a Craigslist link, you'll have to act fast before the tank is sold.

Let me know what part of the world you're in, so I can try to help you find one relatively local to you.

Here's a link to a .GIF of the tank used on the early XS360; last year for this tank was 1977:

IIRC, most (maybe ALL) of the XS lineup (XS400, XS500, etc.) of that era (ending in 1977) used the same (or a VERY similar) tank, along with the RD lineup. With a little luck, you might be looking at some links soon, so be prepared to act quickly.

EDIT: Speak of the devil: 1979 RD400F Daytona tank on CL in Los Angeles:

NO photos, but there is a phone number; in the meantime, I'll keep looking... -- kd

Again, let me know your general area, so I can focus on what is close to you. That way, you might be able to see it in person before you buy; even if it isn't close enough to pick up personally, you should be able to avoid heavy shipping charges.

Well, let me know which areas of CL to check for the tank you want:

CL New York:

CL Connecticut:

http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/ct

CL Massachusetts:

http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/ma

CL New Jersey:

http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/nj

CL Pennsylvania:

http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/pa

CL Vermont:

http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/vt

As you can see, there are fifteen different CL boards within NY State alone; I'd prefer to check all the boards closest to you first, so please tell me if you're in NYC, the Hudson Valley, upstate western half, upstate eastern half, upstate northern half... you get the idea. If you're upstate outside of Buffalo, then I'll want to check eastern PA, eastern Ohio, and the greater Toronto area for you as well, so help me narrow this down a bit. Ideally, I can find you something close enough for you to see it in person before you decide whether or not to buy it, which could save you a lot of grief and aggravation in the long run...

Now, let's hope that I can actually help you find something reasonably soon...

In that case, we'll just have to cast a wider net, and see what turns up. Please check the photo in this thread:

Is that the basic style of tank you're looking for? I know you want a PRE-'79 NON-Daytona RD tank, but would something from an XS500 do the trick? I've never seen an RD400 tank next to an XS500 tank, so I don't know if they're identical or not, but to my erratic eye, they look to be similar, even if they're not identical...

yes, something like that, they are basically the same but the RD with knee dents,I think an XS360 will fit my frame and the 500 may be too big.
