Ways to wire GPS

Been Around the Block
I was looking for ways to wire up for a GPS.
It would be nice if I could use one of the wires from the speedo lights I'm not going to be needing.
It would be nice to avoid the cigarette lighter thing but I don't know if that's possible.
Being that it reduces the voltage.

If the wire you're planning to use is powered it should be fine. Or go from a spare line in the harness? I've seen a couple of GPS's that let you either go into a cigarette lighter or wire it directly in.

It will depend on your model of GPS.

Some run from 5V adapters (like the USB kind that plug into a cigarette lighter) but others can handle 12V and be hardwired.

Do you know the specs on yours?

I have a Garmin nuvi 1350 and on the adapter 5V/1A output.
I was thinking of using a Nuvi 50lm and it might be the same.
