I would like to know what the numbering system means on the Honda bolt heads. I have a metric bolt with the #9 showing on the head. I have an identical bolt, same size, that has #11 showing on the head. First of all, what does the 9 mean? Then what does the 11 mean? Or in otherwords what is the difference between the two?

it doesnt matter whats marked on it, there are all different types of metric bolts, coarse, fine (3 types of fine) and "electric" fine which is even finer.

But I have two bolts that are susposed to be the same but have different numbers on them. Just wondering if there is a difference and if so what would that be?

ahem...

MEtric fasteners are graded just like SAE fasteners
5.8 metric is equal to SAE 2
8.8 metric is equal to SAE 5
9.8 metric is equal to SAE 7
10.9 metric is equal to SAE 8
the higher the number, the higher the tensile strength. you can use the 10 in a 9 application, although you might want to check with the dealers parts department if it is a newer bike because it could very well have one time use torque to yeild "stretch" bolts.
